Are operators standing by?
That famous phrase that used to follow: "but wait, there's more! Now how much would you pay? Don't answer yet..." in TV infomercials for the Vegematic, Garden Weasel or Ginsu Knives is taking on a new meaning. Now the operators aren't "standing by" to take your order for some new, multifunction tool; print operators are standing by because of the cool tools their shop already bought. We're talking about print automation that splices, dices and makes julienne fries - well... at least the first part. Splicing automation makes print operators say, "look, Ma, no hands!"
Don't miss out on this deal! Ralf Schlozer Schl?zer brings us the latest in auto-splicing, winding and rewinding technology and why it's becoming more widely used in "optimizing the inkjet paper supply with autosplicers." If your career has included time in an offset web environment, you know auto-splicing is pretty standard there. In the digital world, presses weren't considered fast enough to bother with that level of automation. The combination of labor shortages and actually doing the math for fast inkjet presses is changing that mindset. If you want to do the math yourself,?checkout this downtime calculator. Of course the calculator doesn't include the savings from redeploying some of the operators "standing by" to new work or avoiding overtime costs through better labor allocation.
You know who knows a lot about that? Gretchen Renaud of PrintMail Solutions. In her last interview with us, she talked about "Automation Opportunities and Challenges." She is back to talk about taking stock of your software, standard operating procedures, and supplier relationships to do more types of work and?drive new business opportunities.

"All in one" print components are way better than a Pocket Fisherman
Back in the '70s, Ronco offered a handheld, folding "pocket" fishing rod and reel combo that came preloaded with fishing line and everything needed to "simply unfold and wait for a bite!" Mark Bale details a much more high quality, and technically intensive, bit of manufacturing that also brings together "everything you need" all in one place. Check out "Getting there quickly and easily with Fujifilm Samba JPC" for a deep dive into the Fujifilm inkjet component architecture that is driving integration initiatives for Fujifilm and their OEM and integrator customers. Call now! So your operators can start standing by!

P.S. Although, I was alive in the 1970s I was one of those rare children who was not allowed to watch television. So, I had to dig a lot of these infomercial nuggets out of the?Weird Al Yankovic song "Mr. Popeil" Ron Popeil was the founder and TV peddler of the myriad Ronco products that were "not sold in stores!"

1 年So sorry to hear you missed all the wacky TV ads of the 70's
Thanks for bringing me back to the Ginsu. Todays inkjet is cutting edge and cutting costs. Well done and very clever writing.
