Operational Transformation

Operational Transformation

Business value is built upon the maturity of the business. Once a business becomes viable within the market, the operational capacity must be able to profitably scale to meet any planned increases (RevOps) in market demand to generate additional revenue, without sacrificing the previously established operational capability to provide high-quality products and/or services.

The ability to predictably and sustainably scale a business operations system to meet an increased market demand, requires an operational performance management strategy. This strategy must ensure the sustained ‘quality’ of business operations through efficient operational growth, for increased capacity to meet market demand, in addition to the ongoing improvement of operational constraint to ensure the provision of capable and effective results.

“A system must have an aim.? A system must create something of value, in other words…results.”?? - W. Edwards Deming

Einstein’s edict: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.”

The predictive ‘quality’ management (PQM) solution:

  • Well-defined business process workflows for the workforce to execute. (Plan)
  • A workforce that is systemically managed to execute the work, as planned. (Do)
  • The capability to systemically understand the results of the planned work. (Check)
  • The capability to continually target and improve operational ‘quality’ constraint. (Act)

Plan the work | Do the work | Check the work | Act to improve systemic constraint

?The PQM strategy utilizes an efficiently effective solution to provide the operational capability and capacity for the results that are required for providing sustainable growth and business value.

When the leadership in a business is strong, everyone in the company’s workforce can relax and just focus on the work that they were hired to execute. Strong business leaders set the tone and establish an ‘air of confidence’ across the entire company, enabling the business to focus on prospering. This occurs through an operational strategy that ensures the work is well-planned and well-managed to be executed in accordance with, and in support of the business plan.

Great leaders understand that the singular constant in business management is the constant and never-ending ‘change’. Managing change, however, is not always straight forward. Businesses must always evolve, sometimes very quickly. Successful business leaders proactively adopt an operational strategy that will enable them to predictably scale the operations of the business to meet the growth that is demanded by the stakeholders of the business. Great leaders focus on sustaining efficiently effective business operations, to succeed through operational excellence.

Business leaders can achieve operational success with a workforce that efficiently executes the carefully planned work of the business, transforming their time ($$$) into effectively obtaining the results that matter to the business. Performance = effective process + efficiently executed.

  • Effective - "producing a result that is wanted."
  • Efficient - "producing the desired results without wasting materials, time, or energy."

Business leaders can achieve operational excellence by focusing on transformational efforts that:

  • Establish and/or improve the capability to achieve the requisite operational results.
  • Establish and/or improve the capacity to deliver operational results, at scale.
  • Utilize and leverage technology to:

- Manage business process workflows.

- Manage data from business process execution.

- Analyze, report, and review data from business process execution.

  • Establish and/or improve the business process workflows that target and improve systemic operational constraint.

Business leaders can proactively manage and drive the performance of their business through the intentional and focused efforts that are designed to systemically ensure the achievement of operational excellence.

Great leadership teams don’t passively wait for the reactive need for change. They don’t reassure themselves that a more opportune time to act will eventually arise.

Great leadership teams choose to lead by design, and proactively establish an operational performance management strategy to drive their business success.

How does your business manage operational ‘quality’ today? Does your business possess the operational capability and/or capacity that is necessary to satisfy current market demand?
