Despite heavy attacks, Ukrainian soldiers have held firm, inflicting considerable losses on Russian forces while also continuing strategic operations in the Russian-occupied Kuril region.

In the past day, the Russian military launched two missile strikes and 67 air strikes across Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements. In addition, they unleashed over 5,587 shelling attacks, 167 of which were conducted using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). The scale and ferocity of these strikes underscore Russia’s attempts to break Ukrainian defenses, but Ukrainian forces have continued to respond with remarkable resilience.

Frontline Update: Heavy Fighting Across Key Sectors

Kharkiv Direction In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces sought to gain ground by attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses around the villages of Vovchansk and Tykhe. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled seven attacks in this sector, dealing significant blows to Russian advances. Russian air forces also deployed guided aerial bombs (KAВs), which hit residential areas of Kharkiv, causing civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. However, despite these ruthless air strikes, Ukrainian defenders continue to secure the city’s perimeter.

Kupiansk Direction The Kupiansk sector saw fierce fighting as Russian troops attempted 16 offensive operations. Russian forces tried to breach Ukrainian lines near the villages of Petropavlivka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka, Kruhliakivka, Lozova, and Stelmakhivka. Ukrainian soldiers responded with firm resistance, thwarting each assault and inflicting losses on the advancing enemy.

Lyman Direction The Lyman axis experienced one of the highest concentrations of Russian attacks, with 13 recorded assaults. Ukrainian forces defended key positions near Makiyivka, Nove, Bilohorivka, Cherneshchyna, Druzhiliubivka, and Dronivka. Russia's efforts to penetrate Ukrainian defensive lines in these areas failed, as Ukrainian soldiers successfully repelled all offensives.

Siversk Direction In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian defenders blocked two Russian advances near the village of Vyiimka. Both attempts were thwarted, with the enemy forced to retreat after suffering casualties.

Kramatorsk Direction Heavy clashes occurred in the Kramatorsk sector, where Russian forces attacked 12 times. Ukrainian soldiers held strong in the villages of Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Hryhorivka, and Stupochky. Despite continuous assaults by Russian infantry and artillery, Ukrainian defenders maintained control over their positions.

Toretsk Direction Toretsk witnessed nine Russian assaults supported by aerial bombardment, primarily targeting Dacha, Toretsk, and Shcherbynivka. Additionally, Russian forces attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses near Nelypivka but were met with strong resistance. Although some engagements are ongoing, most of the attacks were successfully repelled.

Escalation in Southern Ukraine: Pokrovske and Kurakhiv Sectors

Pokrovske Direction In southern Ukraine, fighting reached a critical point along the Pokrovske sector, with Russian forces launching 35 attacks. The bulk of their efforts focused on towns and villages such as Krasnyi Yar, Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretske, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Selidove, and Marinivka. Ukrainian defenders were able to fend off these assaults, with particular success in preventing Russian breakthroughs around Selidove and Marinivka.

Kurakhiv Direction The Kurakhiv sector saw some of the most intense fighting of the day, with 28 separate Russian attacks reported. Russian forces concentrated their offensives around key positions near Hirnyk, Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Heorhiivka, Katerynivka, and Kostyantynivka. Ukrainian soldiers have valiantly held their ground, successfully repelling all attempted advances.

Vremivka, Orikhiv, and Prydniprovsk Directions

Vremivka Direction Fighting continues in the Vremivka sector, where Russian forces launched six offensives aimed at breaking Ukrainian lines near Vuhledar. Although the enemy has concentrated significant resources on this front, Ukrainian forces have stood strong, with most of the attacks resulting in Russian withdrawals.

Orikhiv Direction The Orikhiv front witnessed two Russian offensives targeting Ukrainian positions near Robotyne. However, these assaults were unsuccessful, with Ukrainian forces maintaining control over the contested areas.

Prydniprovsk Direction In the Prydniprovsk region, Russian forces attempted one significant offensive operation, which was ultimately repelled by Ukrainian soldiers. The strategic importance of this sector makes it a key target for Russian attacks, but Ukrainian defenders remain unshaken.

The Kuril Region Offensive Continues

Ukrainian forces continue their strategic operations in the Russian-occupied Kuril region, with significant pressure being applied on enemy positions. Notably, Russian aviation continues to bombard its own territory, with 16 separate airstrikes in the past 24 hours involving 27 guided aerial bombs (KAВs). As of 22:00 on September 23rd, additional fighting occurred across key sectors of the front. Russian forces launched 125 more assaults, with the highest intensity of fighting reported in the Pokrovske, Lyman, and Kurakhiv directions.

In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces escalated their attempts to displace Ukrainian positions around Lyptsi and Tykhe, with a battle still ongoing near the latter. Meanwhile, fighting continued in the Kupiansk region, where Ukrainian defenders repelled seven separate assaults by Russian troops.

The Lyman direction remained fiercely contested, with 19 more Russian attacks launched across various positions. Ukrainian forces continue to hold strong despite the high tempo of enemy assaults. Ukrainian soldiers also successfully thwarted four offensives near Kalynivka, Klishchiivka, Bilorohory, and Prechetino in the Kramatorsk sector, where Russian forces are attempting to secure new footholds.
