Ukrainian Defense Holds Strong Amid Intense Russian Attacks

The war in Ukraine continues with an unrelenting intensity, as Russian forces persist in their attempts to breach Ukrainian defensive lines. Over the past 24/48 hours, heavy fighting has unfolded across multiple fronts, from Kharkiv to the southern regions of Dnipro. Despite this, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shown immense resilience, holding their positions and inflicting significant losses on the invading forces.

Unyielding Pressure and Relentless Bombardment

The scale of the Russian assault remains massive, as evidenced by the sheer number of attacks and strikes reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over the past day alone, Russian troops carried out 157 combat engagements. These attacks were supported by one missile strike, 67 airstrikes, 111 precision-guided bombs, and an onslaught of more than 580 kamikaze drones. Furthermore, Ukrainian positions and settlements endured over 3,000 artillery and mortar strikes.

Although eight of these assaults were successfully repelled, fierce clashes continued throughout the day. The Lyman direction continues to see some of the heaviest fighting, with 23 attacks reported across key locations such as Druzelubivka, Katerynivka, Hrekivka, Tverdokhlibove, Terny, Zarichne, Torske, and Serebrianka. Here, Russian forces seek to break through Ukrainian lines, using intense bombardment and infantry assaults to push forward. Despite this, two engagements are still ongoing, with Ukrainian forces successfully stalling the enemy’s advances.

Lyman has strategic significance as it connects several key routes to the eastern regions. This ongoing battle exemplifies the intensity of the Russian push to gain control over these areas. Over the past day, Russian forces launched 43 separate assaults against Ukrainian positions near Vozdvyzhenka, Novotoretske, Novohrodivka, Krasnyi Yar, Marynivka, and Mykolaivka. Ukrainian defenders successfully thwarted 36 of these attacks, with seven skirmishes still in progress at the time of reporting.

Pokrovsk remains a focal point for Russian efforts to gain ground in Donetsk. Here, Russian forces have employed a combination of air and ground assaults in a bid to overwhelm Ukrainian defenses. However, Ukrainian soldiers have been able to repel a majority of these attacks, demonstrating their tactical prowess and coordination.

Kramatorsk and Toretsk: Holding the Line

The Kramatorsk sector saw Russian air-supported assaults on Ukrainian positions near Chasiv Yar and Predtechyne. Meanwhile, the Toretsk sector witnessed four Russian attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses, particularly near Toretsk and Nelipivka.
