Operation Food Basket Supporters, Donors and Volunteers!

Operation Food Basket 2022 was a great success thanks to you!?With your generosity, we met this year's OFB target of $45,000.?As in the past, any excess funds will be donated to the House of Mercy as they work to help families struggling with food insecurity.?This need extends well beyond the holidays and your donations make a significant difference.??

With your help, OFB provided a week’s worth of groceries for approximately 1500 people in almost 400 families, all within Monroe and Wayne Counties.?As most of you know we work with three charities; the House of Mercy, Community Place and Green Angels. Due to the challenges associated with packing and delivering the actual food, we distributed Wegmans gift cards again this year.?One significant benefit of providing gift cards to the OFB families was that it allowed us to align more closely with the House of Mercy’s holiday toy program.??We were able to work jointly to help the House of Mercy distribute toys to almost 1000 children while the families picked up their gift cards.??

Operation Food Basket would not succeed if not for all of you.?It takes many individual, organization, and corporate donations to reach the $45,000 goal.?Approximately 100 volunteers are required to enable and operationalize Operation Food Basket each year. From the 11-member Core Team and the House of Mercy Leadership Team which starts in late summer, the Fund Raisers and Family Callers who start in the fall to the 60 people who work over the 2-day distribution event.??To all, a huge THANK YOU!

The feedback from the families has been very positive.?Many families told us that with OFB’s help, they have food and with the House of Mercy’s help they have toys for their children so they can celebrate the holidays.??
