OpenProject 13.1: Share work packages, dynamic meetings, OneDrive/SharePoint integration, and much more
OpenProject | open source project management software
Collaborative project management - Powerful. Easy-to-use. Safe. ???? ?????? ???????????? ??
Dear OpenProject Community,
Over the last few months, we have been busy working on many new features and improvements for OpenProject. Today, I am very much looking forward to presenting OpenProject 13.1 to you.
As we have already announced, 13.1 will allow?sharing work packages?with users or groups who are not members of a project. This makes it even easier to inform stakeholders without them needing access to the entire project or having to duplicate work packages. The sharing of work packages will be included in the Enterprise version of OpenProject.
We have also made incredible improvements to the meetings module in 13.1. With the new?dynamic meetings, you can now prepare meetings in a much more collaborative way by?creating and prioritizing separate agenda items. Add work packages directly to a meeting as an agenda item. Relevant meetings are displayed in a new tab in the respective work package. This means you can find directly related conclusions from appointments there.
Anyone who is still in the Microsoft world and using OneDrive or SharePoint for file sharing will be delighted. The new release brings a?OneDrive/SharePoint integration?for Enterprise customers. As with the existing Nextcloud integration, files can be uploaded, linked, or opened directly from a work package in OpenProject in the external file storage. This means you always have relevant project documents at?hand and can rely on open source software for project management.
I am also particularly pleased to be releasing another Enterprise add-on for the Community:?Attribute help texts. It will now also be possible to create and display user-defined help texts in the free-of-charge Community version. This will simplify input and reduce errors. With the next release, we also want to make the Community edition more user-friendly and significantly redesign the currently quite prominent Enterprise banners, so that it is even more fun to work with the on-prem Community installation.
The topic of accessibility is close to our hearts. In the course of the openDesk project and the resulting WCAG 2.1 AA audit, we have now introduced a?high-contrast mode?for OpenProject.
Many thanks to our Community for their continuous support and to all feature sponsors, i.e. BMI, Deutsche Bahn and AMG. You make this open source project flourish.?
Please let us know what you think of all new features and improvements, and share your wishes we should put on the roadmap for 2024!
All over the world, we have to hold our breath for everything that is happening around us. I wish us all a peaceful December! You will hear from me once more before the year comes to a close.
Warm regards,
Birthe Lindenthal
