Opening up Erdos to any teacher who wants to learn AI

Opening up Erdos to any teacher who wants to learn AI

Hello all

We have been making steady progress with Erdos - with the Erdos foundation members.

We will launch the website soon

Our focus is on? Lifelong learning in the age of AI and to create a supportive environment to thrive and to experiment new things, without having to please any shareholder? - which resonates with the eccentric vision of Paul Erdos.

We are rethinking AI? Education?? working on ideas for low code data scientist??on how to gain hands on AI experience?

Our values are:?

1) To be a supportive Platform / learning community for AI

2) lifelong - hands-on learning for AI 3)??learn from people who know more than you in AI?? 4)? find a problem that you are passionate about? 5)? Conscious capitalism? - create a legacy / institution?

6)? Create an LLM assisted? platform for open sharing / publishing?

I have one two more announcements to make today

Firstly, We are opening up Erdos to any teacher anywhere who wants to learn AI using our hands - on / community driven methodology. This is also in consistence with our vision to be a social enterprise - adopting the ideas of conscious capitalism

The idea is??

1) Choose a scenario

2) Develop using low code

3) publish (with the help of AI)

A mode detailed flow is as below??

1. The starting point is ?- ?A system - a process or data

2. The end point is a model that you can deploy

3. And also a reflective approach to learning AI. ?

4. We use an LLM assisted approach where possible

5. We also have a library of code that we use for a basis(ex for ?langchain) ?

for reference to above diagram please see Pathways to low code data scientist

We are starting with a limited set of teachers first. You could be any teacher anywhere in the world. You dont need to know coding. Message me here. There is no cost for teachers. However, you should be an existing full time teacher at an institute since this is designed as a social venture to benefit the next generation through teachers.?

This process will be managed by me and Alexander Ash

The second announcement is: As Erdos is growing, we need to decentralise.

I am pleased to say that Ravindra Gadgil (who is an Erdos co-founder) is now taking up operations in India.?

Ravi is based in London. Over time, we will expand in India more organically.?

More about Erdos itself as it stands now?below

Erdos Research Labs: Pioneering Lifelong Learning in the AI Era???????

?AI is transforming education. What does lifelong learning in the AI era mean? In short, AI enables personalised education, links learning to real-world outcomes, and puts you in control of your development.?

Our focus is on creating Lifelong learning in the age of AI and to create a supportive environment to thrive and to experiment new things, without having to please any shareholder.?

Do these ideas resonate with you?

  • You complete an AI course, but how do you apply AI knowledge to real-life problems? ?
  • You have an idea for an AI start-up. How do you prototype your AI start-up idea? further in a supportive community (where you can leverage the intellectual property for your AI solution through the commercially permissive MIT licence)
  • How do you acquire hands-on experience in AI by working on real-world problems that you are passionate about?
  • How do you find a supportive community of people who know more than you (about AI) so that you can learn from them
  • You are a domain expert (non-developer) - how can you become a low-code data scientist?
  • How do you transition your career to AI developing new skills??
  • We encourage you to publish your research in the public domain

Our platform is based on a unique methodology based on our teaching at the University of Oxford modelled on the Oxford Tutorial system (assisted by LLMs). Our vision is guided by the ethos of Paul Erdos for collaborative work.?

?Typically, the problems you would work with are?

  1. Machine learning (ex: Regression, Classification, Clustering)
  2. Deep learning (MLP, CNN)
  3. RAG (langchain, llamaindex)
  4. GraphRAG
  5. Deployment (Streamlit, Docker)
  6. Autonomous AI Agents
  7. MLOps (AWS Sagemaker)

In most cases, these would be LLM assisted.?

We are currently looking for foundation members who would like to work with us as part of our first cohort. Note that the foundation members program is for professionals and has a fee (not teachers)

Hi Ajit, I am currently getting to the last part of the York University Master's in AI ... and filling up gaps in my knowledge. I have at some stage to propose a research project. Currently one of my ideas is to research the use of ChatGPT (and related tools possibly) in teaching STEM subjects. My thoughts are to develop a module to teach "teachers" how to use ChatGPT in STEM teaching and then to use my experiences and theirs as sources of data to analyse as part of the research thesis. Any thoughts ? Kind Regards Andrew
