Opening the Flow: How to Release Abundance in Business & Life

Opening the Flow: How to Release Abundance in Business & Life

I’ll never forget that evening in Bodega Bay, CA. It was a picture-perfect retreat—waves crashing along the coast, crisp air filled with salt and promise. Our guests settled into their rented beachside homes with anticipation high. We had naturopathic physicians as guest speakers, a gourmet vegan chef, and a food truck packed with fresh supplies for the weekend. Everything was going smoothly, until… I got the call.

The food truck, along with our chef, was stranded with no ETA. The town was shutting down, and I stood there, surrounded by a group of hungry attendees. My heart sank. Anxiety crept in as the weight of being the Founder of an international nutritional network marketing corporation pressed in. What would I do? There was no restaurant or store nearby, and barely any supplies on hand.

But then, something shifted. A faith-filled boldness rose up in me—an unmistakable prompting of the Holy Spirit. Without overthinking, I walked into the kitchen, put a pan on the stove, and heated up the small quart-size container of leftover soup from lunch. As I poured it into the first bowl, it filled to the brim. Then I filled a second, a third… until every single person had a full bowl.

Those standing around were stunned. It was a miracle of multiplication, just like when Jesus fed the multitudes with five loaves and two fish:

"Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people." – Luke 9:16 NLT

Why Do I Share This?

Not just to remind you that miracles still happen—though they do—but to teach a principle that’s key in business and life: Opening the Flow.

Understanding Flow

Flow is the unrestricted movement of resources, ideas, and energy in every area of life. Blood flow, oxygen flow, money flow—everything depends on flow. Even the word “currency” (which we use for money) is derived from the concept of flow.

When flow is restricted, stagnation sets in, leading to a lack of creativity, momentum, and abundance. And when flow stops altogether? It results in constipation (yes, that word!)—a high level of constraint and restriction that creates a lack of ease and expansion.

How to Open Flow in Your Life and Business

During Day 3 of the Your Expansion Formula, we explored “O” in the P.R.O.S.P.E.R. system—Opening the Flow. Here’s how you can start activating flow in your life today:

  1. Change Your Focus & Questions

When Elijah encountered the widow with seemingly nothing to offer, he asked two life-changing questions:

“What do you desire?”

“What’s in your hand?” (2 Kings 4:2

Often, we focus on what we lack—we’re not rich enough, smart enough, or experienced enough. But our lack is driven by perception, not reality. God is the Source; everything else is just a re-source. Shift your questions from, “What don’t I have?” to “What do I have?”

2. Give & Use What You Have

Elijah instructed the widow to use what she had, even though it was just a small flask of oil. When we release what we have—our time, talents, or resources—God meets us in that place of faith and multiplies it.

“Give generously, and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top!” – Luke 6:38 TPT

3. Shift from a Mindset of Lack to Overflow

When we focus on lack, we contract. We conserve, hold back, and restrict our resources. But the key is to expand and open the flow. Ask yourself: What’s in my hand right now? Courses, content, potential clients, previous clients for renewals, collaborations—use them! Value flows where value is added.

4. Activate Flow with Faith

In 2 Kings 4, the oil kept flowing until there were no more empty jars left. The flow is controlled by faith. When you pour out what you have, you create space for God’s abundance to fill in. It’s a principle of giving, releasing, and expanding. Faith is the activator.

“Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” And then the olive oil stopped flowing. – 2 Kings 4:6 NLT

Practical Steps to Activate Flow

  • Business Evaluation: When others contract, you must expand. What can you over-deliver or give generously?
  • List Your Resources: Identify everything you have available—content, connections, skills, time, etc.
  • Change Your Language: Replace limiting phrases like “I can’t afford…” or “I don’t have enough…” with “I have the resources to…” or “God will provide…”
  • Give to Create Flow: Find a way to sow value into your community or clients. The more you give, the more space you create for overflow.
