Opening 2025: The Year of AI Storytelling Revolution

January 1, 2025

As the calendar flips, I find myself reflecting on just how far storytelling has come - and how much further it’s about to go. AI has been both the villain and the hero in our narrative as creators. It’s been feared, criticized, and yes, wildly misunderstood. But if 2024 taught me anything, it’s that AI is not just a disruptor; it’s a collaborator.

Let’s start with a confession: I wasn’t always a fan of AI. At first, it felt too cold, too mechanical. Then I tried it, and suddenly, my creative boundaries exploded. Tools that once seemed like gimmicks turned into essential collaborators. And while I still cringe at AI’s occasional six-fingered portraits, I also know this: the future of storytelling belongs to those who embrace this evolution.

Yes, I made a fat Spiderman - because I can:)

What We’ve Learned

AI isn’t replacing storytellers - it’s reshaping the way we create. We’re no longer bound by what we can physically shoot, animate, or design. Instead, we’re bound only by our imagination and how effectively we wield AI tools.

Take one of my favorite experiments last year: FAT SUPERMAN. Using an AI to model a fat Superman. Then with AI pic to video I turned a simple idea - Fat Superman rescuing a hamburger - into a hilarious, absurd clip that had audiences cracking up. The AI added just enough surrealism to elevate the joke, and it resonated far beyond what I expected.

Another fascinating AI-driven creation is the viral Will Smith Eating Spaghetti clip. The uncanny combination of realism and absurdity makes it both hilarious but mostly shows what a way AI has made. Watch Will Smith Eating Spaghetti here.

AI isn’t just for humor - it’s shaping more serious narratives, too. Look at The Crow, an AI-generated short film that won the Jury Award at the Cannes Short Film Festival. The film tells the story of a dancer transforming into a crow, set in a bleak, post-apocalyptic world generated by AI. It’s a testament to how AI empowers indie creators. And probably the most amazing thing is that they used AI before it had tenth of the capabilities it has today. Watch The Crow here.

Another example? A client came to my studio with basic, low-res building sketches. AI helped upscale them and turned the drawings into stunning 3D visuals. The final product looked like it had been made with a blockbuster budget - but at a fraction of the cost and time.

These tools make the impossible possible, but they’re not perfect. AI still struggles with complicated motions, subtleties like human emotion and cultural nuance. That’s where we, the creators, come in. We’re the ones who take raw, unpolished output and shape it into something deeply human and profoundly meaningful.

From a lousy low res pic to an amazing 3D video

The Big Question

2025 raises a challenge: how will you use AI? For those willing to explore, the rewards are endless. Imagine crafting entire worlds in days or creating characters that adapt in real-time to audience input. The tools are only getting better, and early adopters will set the stage for the next great wave of storytelling.

What’s Next

This year, I’m doubling down on experimenting with AI. I want to push what’s possible, from image-to-video tools to generative full videos. My challenge to you? Take the leap. Let AI amplify your voice, not replace it. Because while AI might be the brush, we’re still the ones painting the masterpiece.

Until next time, remember: Those who tell stories rule the world
