Exciting news, rumors, upcoming events, there is so much to cover this week! Let's dive in!
Highlights:
ThisWeek in AI - Products
1) Namy: After struggling for a couple of weeks to find a suitable domain name for a new project, I turned to Namy and quickly secured two perfect domain names that align flawlessly with the project's objectives, all within minutes. Using Namy is straightforward, simply describe your company or project and specify the type of domain you're seeking. Namy then swiftly generates a list of available domains in just 3-5 seconds. Below, you can view a sample prompt I used and the impressive results it produced.
2) OpenAI Corner: There is so much going on at OpenAI that I could’ve filled this newsletter with just OpenAI updates, instead I picked a few to highlight.
3) Meaning: Two 20-year-old Stanford students have developed a novel approach to time management on mobile devices. Their app, Meaning, allows you to set restrictions on specific apps to boost productivity. When you want to access one of these restricted apps, you engage in a chat with an AI to negotiate the amount of time you're allowed to use it.
4) Braintrust AIR (AI Recruiter): While typical AI-powered tools assist in filtering candidates based on set criteria, Braintrust AIR elevates this functionality. Not only does it shortlist candidates, but it also proactively contacts them, schedules interviews, and conducts video assessments to further refine the selection process. This approach promises to streamline hiring workflows significantly. I hope Braintrust is taking steps to manage the risks that come with AI powered recruiting tools to avoid negatively impacting candidates.
5) ChatPRD: GPT is a versatile tool that extends beyond assisting engineers in coding. It also enhances the efficiency of Product Managers by transforming initial concepts into well-drafted preliminary Product Requirement Documents (PRDs). The team at ChatPRD even refers to it as the "Chief Product Officer," aiding managers in crafting superior PRDs. I experimented with it using several hypothetical scenarios and was impressed by its ability to produce a structured document and highlight key points that might not have occurred to me initially. I recommend giving it a try, it could be a game-changer for your workflow. Watch the video below for a quick demo.

ThisWeek in AI - Art
AI Music Video: Washed Out collaborated with OpenAI and used Sora to produce a 4-minute music video for their latest single. In just 4 to 6 years, we'll view AI-created videos from today with the same nostalgic lens we use for 80s photographs, showing the rapid evolution of this technology.
Although there are aspects of this video that could be improved, it's important to remember that it's an AI-generated video. Not a single frame features real people; everything you see was created by artificial intelligence.
AI Film Festival: If the video above peaked your interest, then you might enjoy this too. Runway is hosting its 2nd AI Film Festival (AIFF) on the 9th of May in New York City. It recently announced the 10 finalists they selected from 3000 submissions. Winners will win prizes that include cash + Runway credits. Click on the link below to see the submissions from the 10 finalists.
