Video: ChatGPT now supports real-time interactions with video audio. With video it can analyse your surroundings and reasoning through visual problems using your camera lens.

Audio: GPT-4o has presets of voices it can use to chat in a realistic manner. The new voice assistant can pick up on emotions, recognizes audio features like breathing and stuttering and handles interruptions with ease.

Translations: GPT-4o model offers real-time translation in over 50 languages translating voice inputs instantaneously with significant improvement on text in non-English languages.

Education: Sal Khan and his son tried GPT-4o for a maths problem. Khan Academy integrates ChatGPT into their platform, adapted for educational settings like student tutoring and teacher support.

Visual Aid: Be My Eyes now uses GPT-4 to help blind/low vision people "see" using their phone cameras. Users can now navigate complex tasks, like railway systems or identifying fridge contents, with point-by-point guidance. The new GPT-4 Virtual Volunteer in their app mimics human assistance.

Other Updates:

  • ChatGPT now supports more than multiple languages across sign-up and login, user settings, and more.
  • Paid users get higher message limits, with Team and Enterprise users enjoying the highest.
  • OpenAI has released a new ChatGPT app for macOS with an updated interface that integrates directly with users' computing workflows.
  • OpenAI's blog post also teases future improvements such as 3D content creation, new font design, improved text-in-images generation, sound effect creation, and more
  • OpenAI has made GPT-4o, along with its memory and data analysis tools, available for free to all users, bringing these powerful tools to the free tier for the first time.

Real-time voice interaction and multimodal capabilities transform AI from a tool into a collaborative partner, capable of learning and growing with us. Both OpenAI and Sam Altman's blog, emphasise the commitment to ensuring equitable access for all users, now and in the future. This is a central goal that the company is actively pursuing.
