Hey folks, It’s no secret that the world of AI is moving faster than Santa on Christmas Eve ??. This December, both OpenAI and Google have upped their game, and it’s making for a fascinating showdown.
OpenAI kicked things off with their “12 Days of OpenAI” updates (link here)—not sure about you, but I feel like they borrowed that idea straight from the Irish "12 Pubs" tradition… cheeky, isn’t it?
Not to be outdone, Google launched Gemini 2.0, their latest AI model (link here), which packs some serious reasoning power. For context, OpenAI has been leading the race up until now, but this move has put Google hot on their heels.
The Real Game-Changer: Video, Screen Sharing, and Voice Capabilities
Both platforms introduced features that I’d argue are game-changers for us as users:
Google calls their initiative Project Astra (demo link here), while OpenAI calls it Advanced Voice Mode (demo link here). Whatever you call it, it’s a big leap in making AI more practical and hands-on for everyday use.
Putting the AI to the Test: Stock Predictions
To see how advanced the latest updates really are, I decided to put them to the test with a simple experiment: predicting Google’s stock price over the next month and 4–6 months. I used three platforms:
I fed them today’s stock data, last year’s daily trends (open, close, high, low, volume), and the latest news. With Google stock currently at $191, here’s what each platform predicted:
My Prediction? I reckon Google’s momentum with Gemini 2.0 and Google new quantum chip could bring a modest+ bullish trend, but let’s not forget the market’s all-time highs. A correction might be on the horizon, so we’ll see how it plays out.

OpenAI vs. Google: Who’s Leading?
Here’s my quick take:
The choice depends on what you need. For real-time updates and multimodal tasks, Gemini is solid. But if you’re working on technical tasks or need precision, ChatGPT still has the edge.
Final Thoughts
It’s exciting to see how AI is evolving, and the competition between OpenAI and Google only pushes the boundaries further. I’m curious to hear your thoughts—have you tried these new features? Or have a prediction of your own for where AI is heading?
