OpenAI Unveils Custom GPTs with No Coding Required!

Exactly one year ago, OpenAI revolutionized the world with ChatGPT, an AI chatbot capable of seemingly endless possibilities. Today, they've announced another game-changing development - the introduction of Custom GPTs, designed for specific use cases, and the best part? No coding skills required!

Starting soon, you'll find these versatile AI agents, referred to as GPTs, right in the GPT Store. Although they have kept some details under wraps for now, here's what we know: OpenAI is committed to rewarding creators based on how much their GPTs are used. It's our way of recognizing and incentivizing innovation.

Example of CustomGPT

Who can access these custom GPTs, you ask? Paying ChatGPT Plus subscribers and OpenAI enterprise customers will have the privilege of creating internal GPTs tailored to their unique needs.

This exciting development was unveiled at DevDay, OpenAI's inaugural developer conference held in San Francisco. They also revealed a turbocharged, more affordable GPT-4, reduced prices for developers integrating their models into their apps, and the astonishing news that ChatGPT now boasts a staggering 100 million weekly users.

In OpenAI's own words, "Since launching ChatGPT, people have been asking for ways to customize ChatGPT to fit specific ways that they use it." While they previously introduced Custom Instructions in July, it's now taken a step further. Power users who meticulously crafted prompts and instruction sets can now let GPTs do the work for them.

Here's a glimpse of what's in store: In a recent demonstration, a GPT named the "Creative Writing Coach" critiqued a writing sample uploaded in a matter of minutes. Another GPT, dubbed "Event Navigator," assisted attendees at DevDay by providing information from an event schedule. OpenAI's interface allows you to guide how you want your GPT to interact with people, customize its features, and even provide it with access to web browsing, DALL-E, and OpenAI's Code Interpreter tool for software development.

But that's not all! There's a "Knowledge" section for uploading custom data, and a feature called Actions that lets GPTs connect to external services for accessing information like emails, databases, and more. OpenAI will be starting this with Canva and Zapier, but the possibilities are endless.

What OpenAI’s GPT builder interface looks like.

OpenAI's approach stands out from the competition. They're not just building AI personas that mimic human behavior; they're focused on utility. While they encourage creativity, they're also mindful of ethical considerations. The creators of GPTs won't have access to user chats, and they're committed to monitoring activities to prevent issues like fraud, hate speech, and sensitive content.

As we look ahead to the GPT Store's launch, OpenAI will only accept agents from individuals who have verified their identity, ensuring a secure and reliable experience for all users. Initially, GPTs will be accessible through shareable web links, making it easy to collaborate and engage.

Ultimately, OpenAI's vision is to take a step closer to the creation of AGI, the ultimate AI superintelligence. By restricting access to paid subscribers, they aim to further accelerate our mission and reach new heights. With investor valuations of up to $90 billion on the horizon, the future looks brighter than ever.
