ChatGPT launches official iOS app.

In a world dominated by unofficial knockoffs, OpenAI has finally graced us with the real deal—a ChatGPT app for iOS! Now you can have your AI chatbot companion at your fingertips, ready to unleash its witty banter and nuggets of wisdom wherever you go. Say goodbye to those dubious imitators cluttering the App Store!

This app, packed with all the AI goodness of its desktop counterpart, lets you have interactive conversations with your chatbot. No more traditional web searches for you! Need advice? It's got your back. Want inspiration? It's got more than you can handle. Whether you want to learn, research, or engage in mindless banter, ChatGPT is here to entertain and enlighten.

And let's face it, Apple's voice assistant, Siri, could use AI magic. While Apple struggles to catch up in the AI game, ChatGPT is swooping in to save the day, becoming your ultimate mobile helper. Move over, Siri; there's a new AI in town!

But that's not all! Please be sure to brace yourself for the impact on Google. With ChatGPT taking the stage on iPhones, Google might feel a slight tremor in its search engine throne. ChatGPT could lure users away from Google's default search engine status in Safari. Who needs Google when you can have an AI buddy guiding you through life's mysteries?

Here's the icing on the cake: the mobile version of ChatGPT syncs your search history across devices. Yep, it remembers all your weird and wonderful queries from the web interface, so you can relive those "what was I thinking?" moments anytime, anywhere. It also supports voice input with Whisper, OpenAI's speech recognition system. Just speak up, and ChatGPT will be all ears!

Starting in the U.S., OpenAI will roll out the app to other countries in the "coming weeks." And if you're an Android user feeling left out, fear not! An Android version is on its way. So, get ready to unleash the power of ChatGPT on your favorite mobile device.

In a world where tech giants are racing to infuse AI into everything, OpenAI's ChatGPT app offers a refreshing change—ad-free! No more sifting through annoying ads or drowning in a sea of search results. OpenAI subtly throws some shade at its partner, Bing, as they sip their tea, noting that ChatGPT gives you instant answers without the fuss.

But wait, there's more! Google recently unveiled its own AI chatbot, Bard, breaking free from its waitlist shackles. However, ChatGPT's arrival steals the spotlight, making us wonder if Bard feels slightly overshadowed. Time will tell!

There's a growing demand for ChatGPT and AI on the iPhone. People are willingly shelling out their hard-earned cash to have a taste of the AI experience. My friends, it's a chatbot revolution, and we're here for it!

AI needs regulation - according to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI

Sam Altman voiced his concerns about AI's potential dangers, stating that government regulation of AI would be a prudent step forward. OpenAI's ChatGPT, built on their GPT-3.5 large language model (LLM), has gained immense popularity, thrusting generative AI into the spotlight and prompting authorities worldwide to catch up with its advancements.

During the congressional hearing, Democrat senator Richard Blumenthal showcased a voice clone trained on his speeches, illustrating the capabilities of AI-generated text. While impressive, Blumenthal raised the question of potential misuse, highlighting the importance of AI companies testing their systems and disclosing known risks before releasing them.

One of the major concerns surrounding AI is its potential impact on the job market. OpenAI estimates that 80% of workers could see their jobs affected by AI in the future. Recognizing this, Altman acknowledged the need for proactive measures and agreed with licensing the most powerful AI systems under the authority of a US or global agency. This agency would be able to ensure compliance with safety standards and revoke licenses if necessary.

Despite the apprehensions surrounding AI, Altman remains optimistic about the future of work. He believes that although AI automation may change the nature of specific jobs, it will also create new opportunities, improving the job market overall.

While initial concerns about chatbots like ChatGPT revolved around potential academic dishonesty, the rapid expansion of AI technology has brought forth broader issues. These include the potential for misinformation, copyright infringement, and job displacement.

Addressing these concerns and establishing guidelines that safeguard society are crucial as AI advances. Government collaboration and regulation will play a vital role in mitigating risks and harnessing the potential of AI for the greater good.

E-Commerce with Coffee! A podcast with Nate Svoboda from Amber Engine

The quick take:

In my 15-year career in CPG, I have taken up various roles, starting in sales, marketing, and trade/shopper marketing before transitioning to e-commerce. Throughout the podcast, I share the invaluable lessons I've learned in my career journey. I stress the crucial role of mastering sales skills, explaining that you will only be able to maintain sustainable business growth with the ability to sell your ideas effectively.

In our tech-focused discussion, I delve into the significant transformations I've witnessed in e-commerce. I underscore the accelerated pace of product cycles in today's business environment. We are now in an era of continual market research, product development, and launches - all dictated by evolving consumer expectations.

We then shift the conversation to the essential tools small and medium-sized businesses need to stay innovative in this dynamic business landscape. I emphasize that while the right tech solutions are crucial, the need for top talent is equally essential - individuals who understand your business's present workings and the roadmap to its future.

I also make a case for the importance of dynamic processes in businesses, advocating for regular process overhauls in sync with changing business challenges and expansions.

In discussing customer experience, I bring to light the remarkable changes in customer loyalty I've observed over the years. I share some personal experiences as a frequent flyer, and you might feel inspired to join the same flight club after hearing about the loyalty program's benefits.

Looking toward the future, I talk about upcoming disruptions, one of them being the emergence of the metaverse. I will expand on its potential for more personalized sales models in the near future.

Book Summary: Trillion Dollar Coach

By Eric Schmidt, Jonathan Rosenberg & Alan Eagle

Bill Campbell.

No alt text provided for this image

He’s responsible for some of Silicon Valley’s most significant wins. He coached some of the world’s most essential CEOs; Apple and Google wouldn’t be what they are without him. Campbell was the silent weapon in the arsenal of companies that have revolutionized the world–and he did it all?for free.

Yes, you read that right.

Campbell spent the latter part of his life helping CEOs grow trillion-dollar companies?and wanted nothing in return.

Bill took “No stock, no cash and no bullshit” – if you wanted him to coach you and/or your team. He honestly and genuinely cared for the people around him and wanted to do right by them.?Campbell coached both the Apple and Google boards when both companies were fighting legal battles with each other. He’d built such trust and integrity that no one in either company thought this was a conflict. Let that sink in for a moment.

He was the?Trillion Dollar Coach?and may be among the most inspiring people you’ll ever read about.

The book is straightforward and digestible, with great actionable advice that readers could start implementing immediately. Written by Google CEO’s Eric Schmidt, the book is a fascinating anecdotal account of Bill Campbell's impact on the companies he coached. The book is brimming with stories that will make you laugh, reflect, think hard, and most importantly, change how you approach your life and work. At the end of each chapter, there is a concise summary where the key insights & habits of Bill are outlined for readers to action.?

Summarized advice from the book:?

  1. Start with Trip Reports:?to build rapport and better relationships among team members, start team meetings with trip reports, or other types of more personal, non-business topics
  2. 5 words on a whiteboard:?Have a structure for 1:1s, and take the time to prepare for them, as they are the best way to help people be more effective and to grow. Prior to your team member coming into the room, write down 5 words that summarise what you need to discuss.
  3. Manage the aberrant genius:?when you have a high-performing but difficult team member – tolerate and even protect them, as long as their behavior isn’t unethical or abusive and their value outweighs the toll their behavior takes on management, colleges, and teams.
  4. Only coach the coachable:?the traits that make a person coachable include honesty and humility, the willingness to preserver and work hard, and a constant openness to learning. If someone is no longer coachable, they are not worth your time.?
  5. Practice free-form listening:?Listen to people with complete and undivided attention – don’t think ahead to what you’ll say next and ask questions to get to the real issue. Make people feel that they are the only person you’re listening to.?
  6. Be the evangelist for courage:?believe in people more than they believe in themselves, and push them to be more courageous. Vocalize this when they seem nervous and unsure of themselves.?
  7. Full identity front and center:?people are most effective when they can ultimately be themselves and bring their full identity to work.?If you know someone is faking it to “fit in,” take them aside and privately tell them they shouldn’t have to.
  8. Work the team and then the problem:?when faced with a problem or opportunity, the first step is to ensure the right team is in place and working on it rather than the other way around.
  9. The percussive clap:?cheer demonstrably for people and their successes, and ensure the rest of your team does this as well.?
  10. Always build communities:?build communities inside and outside work. A place is much stronger when people are connected.??
