In the world of technology, a few advancements have captured collective attention like the rise of generative artificial intelligence. As an attentive observer of the AI journey, I watched with fascination as, in November 2022, generative AI emerged from the labs with the launch of CHATGPT by OpenAI. For those less familiar, GPTs (Generative Pre-trained Transformers) are advanced language models that can understand and generate text, content, and analyses in a natural and coherent manner.
The rapid evolution of this disruptive technology continued in March with the release of GPT-4. In the following months, ChatGPT acquired sensory dimensions – it can now interpret visual information, respond to auditory signals, and articulate responses, thanks to the integration of voice and vision capabilities. This advancement is not just technical, but also a step towards more natural and intuitive interaction with machines.
It was a transformative year, where ChatGPT acted alongside me in the development of strategic market consulting projects, increasing productivity, and enriching scenario and process analyses. Generative AI became a focal point of my activities, involving extensive research, readings, studies, and discussions in the academic and business world. On Monday, November 6, 2023, I couldn't miss the broadcast of OpenAI's event for developers.
My thoughts and expectations were pleasantly surprised. I will discuss them in the following lines.
At OpenAI's first Developer Day, innovative advancements were presented, offering a glimpse into the future of AI integration and customization. At the center of the announcements was the API Assistants, designed to empower developers to create customized AI assistants capable of complex tasks such as data analysis and code execution, supported by the innovative Code Interpreter. The event also highlighted GPT-4 Turbo, a model that digested global knowledge up to April 2023, with a context window of 128,000 tokens, surpassing its predecessors by several times. Imagine a mind capable of analyzing and reflecting on over 300 pages of text in a single thought.
?Architects of Tomorrow
But it was the customizable GPTs that captured my attention and imagination. These are not just tools, they are customizable entities, each adapted for a unique purpose; they are the building blocks for a new reality. Customized versions of ChatGPT, each designed for a specific purpose, promise a future where AI becomes a focused artisan to meet the demands of different professionals, functional areas, and processes. For educators, imagine a GPT that can adapt lessons to the individual peculiarities of student understanding, turning algebra into an adventure, history into a narrative as compelling as any novel. For healthcare professionals, a GPT can become a silent assistant, examining medical literature to offer diagnostic suggestions or develop personalized treatment plans. We have the possibility of a GPT that could transform into a virtual legal assistant, analyzing jurisprudence to assist in legal research. We could have a GPT that would function as a creative well for artists, suggesting new ideas for their next masterpiece.
?Expanding horizons in functional areas
I would like to extend the focus of GPT application to the functional areas of companies. I believe the era of customized GPTs marks the beginning of a revolution in business practices, opening a world of possibilities for leaders and professionals in various areas. In marketing, for example, GPTs offer the possibility of deeply understanding consumer behavior nuances and creating targeted advertising campaigns with dynamic content, enhancing engagement and sales. In manufacturing, a specialized GPT can offer the ability to monitor production processes, propose innovations, and train teams, acting as an efficiency architect. In quality management, they can become guardians of excellence, analyzing feedback and patterns to ensure customer satisfaction. In HR, they enable the streamlining of recruitment and selection, accurately identifying talents, and personalizing training programs, while in the financial sector, they become economic analysts and investment consultants, providing real-time forecasts and analyses. For managers, GPTs emerge as strategic advisors, offering valuable insights for decision-making, identifying opportunities for growth, productivity gains, and access to new horizons.
These examples illustrate just the beginning of an era where artificial intelligence is not just a tool, but, as I mentioned, a collaborative partner, capable of driving innovations, optimizing processes, and opening new paths to personal and business success.
?Architects of Ideas
The era of customized GPTs opens a new horizon for consultants, academics, experts, and professional associations, allowing them not only to use but also to create their own versions of GPTs, aligned with their areas of expertise. Consultants can develop customized GPTs that reflect their unique understanding of projects and client needs, offering deeper analyses and innovative solutions. In academia, teachers and researchers could create GPTs aligned with their study areas, enriching the educational process and accelerating research. Experts in different fields can build GPTs that synthesize and analyze specific information from their areas, offering their peers the forefront of innovation and knowledge. Professional associations, in turn, can develop GPTs that serve as valuable resources for their members, providing information, knowledge, and promoting best practices in their sector. This ability to create customized GPTs represents a significant advancement, transforming these professionals not just into users, but into active creators of AI solutions, bringing tangible benefits to their clients and the community at large.
