Open to work

Today I am officially turning my "Open to work" sign on.

I am still passionate about integrating technology and humanity. About helping organizations execute their strategies - run better projects, that deliver long term value…helping organizations innovate and contribute to a sustainable world. And I am not giving this up.

But a key part of innovation is knowing when to stop or change course. The market is not ready for what I want to bring. Emergence is emerging.

Has it been safe to fail? I have learned more this year and a half than in the rest of my years combined, about myself and about the interplay between knowns and unknowns. My intellectual boundaries have been pushed, practicing what I preach by seeking out the uncomfortable.

But I have also lost a lot. I have lost time…pieces of self-worth that modern “man” cannot extricate from money. My CV has a confusing gap in it, and I don’t fit into the boxes recruiters have. Sparring with world leading agile and complexity thinkers and studying constraint theory does not carry the same weight as taking a 2-day SAFe Agile course.

So, I am open for work. I need to contribute to something meaningful so badly I can taste it. And I’m open to what that something is, as long as it is real. I don’t need a fancy title or a huge salary - it just needs to be fair.

What do I bring? I am both strategic and operational, and especially like being involved in connecting these layers. I have 13 years of experience working with enterprise tech, data, AI and business integration, but am educated in the humanities. I believe we need to use both sides of the brain to run successful businesses and my recent studies of complexity science and cybernetics support this notion. I feel capable of taking on the most complex challenges organizations face, so long as I’m not expected to do so while maintaining the status quo. My IQ intimidates some, and I can “nerd out” sometimes, but my heart is huge and authentic. I have a strong work ethic and am passionate about impacting real problems positively, sustainably, and ethically.

If you know someone who may have a job that they have been struggling to find the right person for, please reach out. Perhaps the perfect fit, is a misfit.

There is no gap in your resume, there are 1,5 years of serious transformation to become ready for the (your) work ahead. You would not be able to do what your work will be over the next months if you had not prepared for it as you have. Good luck, Sarah Freiesleben And enjoy the ride, as will everyone who will ride along with you.
