Open Strategy as Practice
Alexandre Oliveira, PhD

The Open Strategy philosophy comprises multiple components, such as the business context, dilemmas, and best practices.
At the outset, it is unclear what the potential consequences (both positive and negative) might be, and there is a possibility of functional or dysfunctional outcomes - the latter of which may necessitate a reversal. The unique perspective of each observer influences how the philosophy evolves from an IdealTypus to a RealTypus.
It is unwise to assume that another observer's viewpoint is the best representation of Open Strategy. For example, if Board Members view Open Strategy Practice solely from the perspective of external consultants or even the CEO, they are likely to fail.
?The diagram I presented above is a composite of various sources available in the literature, and it is part of the Certification on Open Strategy and Digital Transformation course that I teach. Each component of the diagram is like a puzzle piece that requires reflection, along with an understanding of its interconnectedness with the other pieces.
?In the subsequent editions of this newsletter, I intend to delve into some of the subsystems that are composed of a set of elements presented in the diagram. This is the Open Strategy Journey in the context of Digital Transformation.
