Dear Corporate Leaders:
The Hispanic community needs corporate America to step up for us more than ever. The adverse situation our country is facing from COVID-19 has disproportionately affected US Hispanics on the health and economic fronts, putting this group in a fragile position that demands strong and immediate action.
That is why a coalition of Hispanic organizations across the country have united to invite companies to support collective efforts, take action in favor of the most affected, and to share lessons learned.
Please find attached an Open Statement for Corporate America that we would like you to consider, support, and implement at your company. The statement is part of the Hispanic Response and Recovery Plan, a broader effort by organizations and companies to help Hispanics be back on their feet as soon as possible. We’d love to hear what actions your company is taking through this sharing mechanism to learn from one another about impactful activities to solve the significant problems we are facing.
Finally, we invite you to the Hispanic Star Month of Action kicking off on May 21, where corporations, organizations, and individuals will act in unity and solidarity to address the urgent needs of the Hispanic community resulting from the impact of COVID-19, including support and donations at the health level, and to those on the front line, small businesses, entrepreneurs, independent workers, and those have lost their jobs

4 年Back in the day I was fortunate to have met the great Jack Dorsey, Founder at Twitter and Square and his amazing involvement as emeritus board member at Build which helps predominantly kids of color sharpen entrepreneurial skills. The great Mayor of Oakland Libby recently expressed the need for computers and Jack as a great hearted person gave Oakland —10 million, which is super awesome because it serves predominantly kids of color. In the Silicon Valley, if I was asked to be on the recovery team I would in a heartbeat ask Google to step up and help all of nuestro Latinos in East San Jose whom have been majorly impacted by COVID-19, EsTiempo for leadership and action NOW.

4 å¹´When I read the statement, clearly embraces all communities, not only Hispanics, otherwise it will be segregation vs other communities. Probably we should center more into food not sold (all milk thrown to the sewer, ...) it is more the other side (volunteers) that need ?to participate and help too. Humble opinion.
