Open Sauce: FAQ's

With the next Open Sauce event happening very soon and with so many of you having heard great things about it, you're left wondering if it's for you. Well we would hate to leave you wondering, so myself and the Open Sauce team have come up with some reasonably handy answers to the questions you'd potentially like to ask*.

What is the point of Open Sauce? Wow, that's a fairly direct question! OK so we've covered this question in a separate article, but in a nutshell it's an evening event that aims to bring ambitious, brave and curious business folk together in order to learn, connect and share. It's basically a networking event, but more interesting than the other similar events you might attend.

We've seen the pictures, are you sure Open Sauce is really a networking event? At it's heart that's all it is, but as a team were keen to redefine what networking is. If it helps convince you, think about it as socialising with purpose. There are talks from interesting people to help provoke conversation; we've got a great, fun mechanism to encourage people to introduce themselves to one another and we've got prizes to reward those that do! We want people to have fun whilst meeting new people and building new business relationships.

Oh yes, these talks. Tell me about them. The talks cover a wide variety of subjects, but the main the idea is to demystify topics that people want to know more about but are too afraid to ask. Admittedly a lot might be digital in content, but that's just a sign of the times. Because of the speed of change that's taking place all around us, these are the subjects people know least about.

Sounds a bit technical. Yes it does but thankfully they're not in the least bit technical. Quite the opposite in fact. The team behind Open Sauce also curate and produce a number of other events and are really good at coaxing speakers to talk. Besides, Open Sauce is meant to be fun.

I don't work in an agency, in fact I don't think there's anything creative or digital about my job. Is this event for me? Absolutely! We've tried to create an event that is business-focused, irrespective of what business you work in. And we'd also argue about your assumption that there's nothing creative or digital about your job either. Nearly all business has a digital aspect to it these days and in some small way, we're all creative too.

OK, so who else will be there? I know all networking event producers would say this, but all business sectors are represented at Open Sauce. We're incredibly fortunate to work with three brilliant sponsors from across the professional services (Francis Clark, Steele Raymond and Rubicon Recruitment Group), who help us promote the event to a wide audience. So alongside the creative and digital agencies, accountants, solicitors and recruiters come along. But so do business advisors, coaches, funeral directors (yes, funeral directors), software engineers, property developers, PR's, PA's, etc... Anyone and EVERYONE is welcome at Open Sauce

I'm nearly convinced, what else do you want to tell me? Well we've yet to mention the magazine. Open Sauce publishes a magazine for every event. Packed full of interesting articles from the speakers, the sponsors and from other local contributors and with not a single advert in sight. We commission brand new photography and illustrations for each edition, the intention being to give every attendee something to take away with them and read after the event. Every attendee also gets a free drink upon arrival!

Hang on, I get a drink, a magazine and to hear from a well-curated selection of speakers, not to mention I can network with other interesting business owners AND there's a possibility that I might win a prize? All for £7.50? Where can I get a ticket? Yep you get all of that. And you get tickets here.

*If you have any other questions, pop them in the comments box and we'll have a go at answering them...
