Welcome back! This is a bit abnormal for us as we usually publish at the beginning of the month, but with a MASSIVE military hiring fair that happened last Friday, we decided to publish this month's edition directly after to include all of the fantastic opportunities that were shared during the event.

If you're new here, you picked a great month! Every month we share open roles from companies seeking to hire military talent, advice, free upcoming events, scholarships, and resources for military-connected job seekers.

Scholarships

• Google Career Certificate Scholarships: Every month Boots to Books is taking 10 students for cost-free Google Career Certificates. These trainings range from project management to digital marketing to cybersecurity, and recipients won't only receive a certification but also support from our team and access to a plethora of Google's career resources! Apply to the next cohort here.
• Spring Textbook Scholarships: Every semester since Boots to Books was founded we have provided scholarships for military-connected students whose benefits are falling short, exhausted, or otherwise unavailable. Through the scholarship, students can request funding for textbooks and other requisite resources to complete their degree plan, and team Boots to Books will ship the resources directly to them! Job Seeker Tip of the Month

The job description is your guiding light. When you are assessing whether to pursue a certain degree or certification, refining your resume bullets, or preparing for an interview, a job description can be your best friend. We recommend that job seekers look at 5-10 job descriptions for the role they are seeking, find the commonly requested skills and qualifications, and focus on attaining those before anything else. These are also the skills and experiences that you want to emphasize more than all else through your resume.

Additionally, these are exactly what you will want to emphasize during your interview, which you can practice doing through mock interviews! Using sites like Google's Interview Warmup and Candorful can help here!
