Open Pass – April 2024: A look forward with Funding the Future and a look back on the Global Investment Summit

Looking forward, looking back

We kick off our fourth edition by looking ahead: what do investors see on the horizon for venture capital and high-growth sectors? To find the answer, sign up for our next Live Insights event on 23 May, which explores key findings from our new and proprietary Funding the Future Survey. Details below.

This month we’re also looking back at the HSBC Global Investment Summit. More than 2,700 delegates joined us in Hong Kong, 8-10 April, to discuss trends reshaping the world economy. It was great to be there for a fascinating and enlightening series of sessions. Three videos below filmed live at the conference summarise discussions on artificial intelligence, supply chains, interest rates, and optimism about China and India. Plus, I caught up with HSBC’s Dr. Murat Ulgen in a special edition of Live Insights about his take on the conference, including the prospects for emerging markets.

We also share thought leadership on topics that sparked debate at the conference. Janet Henry explores the outlook for the global economy. Stephen King FAcSS looks at the challenges of rising public debt. James Pomeroy examines how global shocks have changed the way the world economy works. And Frederic Neumann and Herald van der Linde talk through quirky facts about Asian markets.

Also in this edition: Steven Major on the rates cycle, Paul Bloxham and Jamie Culling on global commodities, and Amy Tyler and Sean McLoughlin on why cooling is a hot topic in the era of climate change.

Read on for more on all of these, as well as our recent podcasts and other free to view reports. Let us know what you think on email via [email protected]. And do subscribe to the Open Pass here!
