To the trucking community of America...
Every day it's another headline: Hackers have launched a devastating ransomware attack on an LTL carrier. A major hotel chain experiences significant disruptions as a result of its attacked computer systems. Cyberattacks are on the rise and there’s no denying it.?
A cyberattack on our supply chain has potentially catastrophic effects on us all. According to a Harvard Business Review article, America’s supply chain contains 37% of all jobs, employing 44 million people. The trucking industry performs a vital service to our nation's economy by delivering the goods necessary to keep commerce flowing. In revenue terms, this is a contribution of over $750 billion to the U.S. Economy annually. If trucking stopped, America would stop. ?
From an organizational perspective, there are detrimental events that occur when systems are left vulnerable to cyberattacks. When your systems are vulnerable, your people are vulnerable. Drivers don’t make payroll. Employees are left working around the clock to salvage data and rebuild systems from the ground up. It's not just the company that hurts. People hurt. This is why we must work together and get educated on preventing and recovering from these crimes. ?
This is why you and your team must get involved in NMFTA's Digital Solutions Conference on Cybersecurity this month (Oct 22-25) in Houston, TX. ?
For nearly a decade, the NMFTA has led trucking cybersecurity, and we are committed to protecting our supply chain. This FREE cyber-exclusive event will provide you with the information and resources you need to protect your enterprise from cyber threats. Why do we provide this education for free? Because your budgets are tight, AND to protect one of the nation's most critical infrastructures. Leaders from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) , Transportation Security Administration (TSA) , U.S. Secret Service , 微软 , and others will be in attendance specifically to help you. October is also Cybersecurity Awareness Month, so there's no better time than now to get involved.
I urge you to do your part.?Because let's face it, trucking cyberattacks won't end without your involvement. Register now and help protect our supply chain today.?
But most importantly, remember that those being attacked are our colleagues, our friends, and our family. Listen and learn from one another. Take care of each other. Because we don’t know who will be next...?
?
Sincerely, ?
Director of Enterprise Security?
