An Open Letter to the Prime Minister of Ethiopia

The letter is being written in response to Ethiopia's continued violence and political turmoil. As a concerned African citizen, I feel obligated to reflect my thoughts about on the current political uncertainty following the US administration sanction placed on the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments and its effect.

The American government spoken in loud and clear diplomatic language by emphasising that if you are incapable of resolving the situation militarily means, you must sit down with your predecessors and settle it.

?Honorable Prime Minister, you have received a new mandate from the Ethiopian people, who have expressed their unambiguous desire for you to serve as commander in chief of law and order. I hope you have a better grasp of the mandate than I do. You have been hired by the populace to ensure the country's peace and tranquility. However, the mandate does not cover philanthropic activities, novel writing, philosophical reflection, or the obligation to be an indispensable protector. Thus, your sole responsibility is to ensure the safety of the public and harmonious interaction among members of society from diverse backgrounds. The remaining tasks, such as development, food security, a green economy, and recreational activities, can be fulfilled by citizens through the passage of appropriate legislation.

?I understand that you are confronted with numerous obstacles, some of which are man-made, while others are the result of natural disasters. However, if you have a sound strategy in place, these obstacles can be transformed into opportunities.

There is no prosperity without priority

?The country cannot achieve the level of progress to which its citizens aspired if its daily operations are harmed by violent conflict, political instability, and other persistent difficulties.

?Dear Prime Minister.

There are countless manifestations of wisdom in our society if one engages the elderly, religious leaders, intellectuals, corporate leaders, and regular folks. You must spend adequate effort to resolving our own problems within our context; there is no reason to go elsewhere or to submit to imperialist power.

?The solution does not consist in writing five million letters to the White House, hiring lobbyists, or launching a social media campaign. Rather than that, you and your coworkers should conduct research and abstain from gloating or pushing your own dream on society. It is economically irresponsible to use the public purse for philanthropic efforts. In order to handle the present conflicts and development issues, it is imperative to be practical in one's solutions, since they should be the work of the entire community. Individuals don't have an answer, but a large, collaborative effort will likely solve the problem. You are the leader of one of the world's ancient civilisation while also being one of the poorest; this is a paradox; a complicated problem requires and requires a complex solution.

?Yours in Pan Africanism
