Open Letter to PEC written in 12/2017

I am writing this with profound sadness and deeply concerned status of the sorry state of condition of Pakistani Engineers. I know most of you guys if not all are somehow related to the present setup of PEC. I know some of you who have shown concerns on how this setup is being run and destroying engineering in Pakistan. I have no connection with any political party or any pressure group. No hidden hand is behind me. Allah and my integrity and my vision is with me.

I am appalled at the joblessness among engineers. I literally cried when I got calls from companies calling me to inquire if I need engineers with PEC supervisory card to get PEC registration as contractor. Then and there I decided that it is time to raise awareness. Most of you have failed us, the engineers. 

We have seen PEC members from academia getting gifts from university visits to accredit their programs. Come on guys, today Achar sellers and Ghutti producers are awarding degrees. Who will safeguard the interests of engineers. Quality of education is very evident when we conduct interviews.

Engineers are committing suicides. When I talked to PEC senior official at an Iftaar party about this, he said: Those who cannot get jobs after one year have no right to live. It is ironic that you take engineers with such affection. My own son is reluctant in becoming an engineer though he has taken excellent scores in O, A levels and SAT. 

When I see some guys taking credit of Washington accords, near the next elections, I wonder what is the advantage of this award to those engineers like me who are to live, study and work in Pakistan. Is it another choran you have been selling us all the way through?

You are part of current government which has engineers in its team starting from PM (though he and Khurram are not Pakistani graduates) but now you are talking of dharna? Come on. You cannot make fool of everyone all the time. You may fool some at some occasions. We know why you guys are doing this? Elections are near. You want to get glued to PEC ranks once again. 

We are seeing, how you are throwing parties in the garbs of functions and meetings, arranging tours, using Serena hotel to stay your guests, traveling all around the world and wasting money you could spend on engineers instead. 

Instead of improving the quality of education, status of engineers, you have made yourself name. You are appearing on TV channels. Making speeches. Doing practically nothing. Giving us lollypop most of the times. 

Lawyers, Nurses, doctors, mullas, mazdoors, SHEMALES, etc are united and have respect but not us. the engineers. It is due to time we spend at DIRTY POLITICS for grabing positions at PEC. PEC positions should have been responsibility and liability for you guys if you were sincere with your professions.

We need rather demand change now. You are taking Pakistan and our future down with you. Look at the positions you guys have held. You are Ex MDs, Ex CEOs, Deans, Businessmen, Politicians, etc. You could have played a very positive role instead of enjoying meals and gossips. 

How many world class papers are presented in your events or magazines? How many PhDs we have produced locally in engineering? How many Scientists or inventors we have produced esp in last decade among engineers?
