An Open Letter to my dearest Future!

I see you smiling at me peacefully; you are simply in awe. I see you sleeping with gratitude every night. Looking back to the younger, more naive, more determined, more self-righteous, more persistent; love and gratitude overpower you with admiration. You've watched me cry on my bedroom floor most nights, completely bored and unmotivated by life. You see that I am depressed when things don't turn out as I anticipated; you see my daily struggle. You see the heavy pain I carry around in my heart, and you watch me keeping my smile on over an over through my dark days and eventually coming out stronger, smarter and more self-aware than ever before.

Future me, I still remember how you were waiting to be an adult, impatiently waiting for the rite of passage(my country people know this better) that would grant you the maturity, respect, and validation you so desperately sought. Now that you’re an adult, all you crave is the sweetly uninhibited moments of play and lack of responsibility that childhood granted you. Life isn’t a sprint, it’s a long race and you’re not in it just to “win.” Be gentle with yourself. Be messy sometimes. Let it all go. Embrace all of your learnings and cherish your experiences because they truly are divinely fated. 

Future me, I do Remember where I came from or who I was will never dictate who you I am or whom I can become. You've shown me how past trespasses will never define me, how to never be afraid of failures and mistakes. That I can get up and make ends meet all over again that I should celebrate my failures the same way I celebrate my victories.

Future me, omg…look at you.... extremely elegant and poised; you have a classy, yet laid back, a manner that makes me want to get to know you much like yesterday, I am falling in love with you every minute, how you handle yourself and how you speak with so much confidence and the positive energy you articulate is admirable by all ages. I hope you can focus on the part of life that builds character and knowledge. I hope you focus on the friendships and relationships with family and friends that are most important to you.

Heartly future, Don’t count every penny; some experiences cannot be valued in money. If you need money, lend it, but always pay back your debts. Remember that money is designed to move. Don’t waste your nights awake worrying about money, whether you have it or not will not change overnight, and worrying over things that you cant change will only add stress and make you look older than your age. :) Accept that you have limits. You can’t do everything, nor were you meant to. Remember you have your strengths, and others have theirs. Be happy that you can be different to everyone else. Allow others difference to enrich your life, not to burden it.

You are precious, irreplaceable and very unique just the way you are. Accept you are just you, exactly as you are, cannot be anything else and shouldn’t be anything else. Don’t compare yourself to others, because they are not who you are and can never compare to you. BE YOU!! let deep into your beautiful mind!

I am leaping into the unknown and completely following my heart. I am going to become the person you know I can be and the one you certainly will be proud of. Future self, you are my truest guide and you show me what is possible for life. You show me that no matter what life throws, we are stronger, smarter, healthier and more beautiful than ever, not because we rise above it, though we do, but because we have the courage to keep going. Just like Michelle Obama said " When they go low, we go high" That where I am heading to higher and higher and I can see you following closely with pure admiration!

Our experiences make us who we are. I choose to let my dreams and my successes define me; I am no longer weighed down by self-loathing thoughts. I choose to be me, persistent, hardworking and happy.There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.” and for sure I am learning to embrace "present" each minute!
