An open letter as I hand over the reigns at Grow My Team

An open letter as I hand over the reigns at Grow My Team

I'm writing today with both exciting and heartfelt news.

As many of you know we've been working on our remote work platform growmotely.com for roughly a year. Along the way, it became clear Growmotely was taking on a life of its own, something separate from Grow My Team and as such, late last year Growmotely Inc. was registered in the US (where I live) and Ren Mathieson and I commenced a leadership transition plan that would see me step into a CEO role to guide and grow our platform, and she'd step into the CEO role at Grow My Team.

Over the past 12 months, Grow My Team has also evolved and taken on an expanded form as we moved into the space of helping companies cultivate conscious culture, especially in a remote / anywhere work context.

While we were once purely a remote recruitment company, we've truly transitioned now into an HR Partner for progressive companies wishing to invest on an ongoing basis in the health, wellbeing, personal development and engagement of their teams.

Our most popular service has become our Coaching & Community offering, closely followed by our 6-week Conscious Leadership Program and the clients we're blessed to work with as a result are incredible, forward-thinking organizations. While the global pandemic has been incredibly challenging in many ways, we've certainly leant into the positives and this is what's enabled our business to transform in this way (we still do recruitment for the record).

As my tenure as CEO comes to a close I wanted to welcome in Ren, who - if you've had the pleasure of meeting you'll agree - is a dynamic, confident and connected leader whose light shines brightly in all she does. She's most certainly been a major influence in the evolution we've undergone this past year and I'm beyond excited to witness where she takes Grow My Team.

At the same time, I want to thank you all, with deep gratitude, for being a part of this very special global community.

I started this journey back in 2014 and many of my peers thought I was crazy trying to turn my financial planning companies remote, and even crazier to be starting a remote recruitment company. Gradually, over the past 7 years, I bought out all three of my original business partners, who were also disengaged and uninterested in the space and the little company that wasn't growing fast enough.

Intuitively I knew this company and the remote / anywhere work movement was the future. I held on. And in March of last year... well, we all know what happened.

I'm so grateful for the ride. I'm still the majority shareholder of Grow My Team and will be fully supporting and cheering from the sidelines as the two sister companies move ahead, side by side, in their own unique ways dancing into the future of work.

Sarah Hawley Congrats on the book and the journey. In an ever-changing world it's a challenge to keep changing...sometimes we all just want to have a rest from it. Looking forward to learning about the next journey.
