Open Letter to the Future College Student

Dear Future College Student,

John Lennon said, "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one, I hope someday you'll join us and the world will be as one!" While he is talking about a better world. I have taken those words to speak to you! Yes, the Millennial and Z generation are facing insane challenges unlike generations before that most people don’t fully understand the implication of these real “Millennial and ZGen Problems.” Because you fall under a generation that is well educated and sees things differently but gets frustrated that change has not taken place. You need to understand that change takes time.

As you are about to select your future. Why have you not research about the different careers and industries in the workforce? Why are you undecided and you are about entering college? Why have you not looked at your personal strengths and weaknesses? Yes! Us the older generations ask. Because we currently struggle with not making a decision of the career path we truly want. Several of us took the path that will pay for our lives. Did we truly choose the career we wanted?

"You have time to learn from our mistakes" Generation after generation has mentioned this. We have decades of examples that tell you research now before you waste your time. Find out what you really want to do! Do not stop and wait to find out. Because it is only you who can decide.

So tell me what do you want to study? Where do you want to go to school? What scholarships have you looked into to pay for school? What is it that you truly want to do with your life?

If you answer "making money!" Then you have not listened to what I have said! Look for what you really love! Then see how you can earn a degree to ensure you work in what you love.

In the words of a Chinese teacher name Confucius, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Do your research but do not wait till it is too late and you cannot decide and someone decides for you.
