An Open Letter From Our Chairperson and Founder, Rick Simon
Dear Chicago Business Leaders,
?My name is Rick Simon, and I am a lifelong Chicagoan, business owner, and concerned citizen. As a former Chicago Police Officer, I have consistently and routinely sought ways to give back to the world-class Chicago Police Department. In 2015, I and other local business leaders collaborated with the CPD to create the Chicago Police Foundation (CPF) as a separate mission from the great work of the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation (CPMF).
?Together, we realized there was a need to help our sworn officers with supplies, services, and equipment that the CPD did not or could not provide. I am proud to say that since our inception, the CPF has raised over eight million dollars. Money that goes directly toward everything from purchasing lifesaving LEMART kits, installation of quiet rooms at districts, mounted unit gear, military recruitment programs, and funding for vital mental health programs.
?While eight million seems like a lofty number, the CPF can and will do so much more. That’s why I’m announcing today that we are expanding our board. I invite all business leaders who wish to make a difference to join us in our ongoing quest to support the CPD. We encourage you to consider an application for this very worthy cause.
?Chicagoans are stronger when we are united. With the full support of the CPD and Superintendent Larry Snelling, the CPF can and will achieve even greater things together. The CPF believes in a lasting legacy of supporting our police officers. We are the Chicago Police Foundation–Helping Our Heroes. ?Rick Simon
