Open Letter to Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser
With the recent trend of political bans on reproductive rights, corporations are now being called into leadership at a whole new level.?In line with Nia's corporate activism to improve diversity, equity and inclusion practices across corporate America, today we join Tara Health Foundation in applauding Citi for taking a stand and making the commitment to cover airfare and lodging for employees seeking abortions who need to travel to states that still offer this range of reproductive rights.?Read below our letter to CEO Jane Fraser, and join us in calling her out for doing the right thing in challenging times.
Dear Ms. Fraser,
I hope this finds you well amidst all that is going on in our world. Nia Impact Capital invests at the intersection of environmental sustainability and social change. We invest with a gender lens, knowing that the health and well-being of women and people who experience pregnancy is a material issue for companies and our economy.?
I write today to convey our gratitude and strong support for your recent announcement that Citigroup will cover travel costs for its employees seeking abortion care. This bold and necessary action clearly benefits individuals and their families, and by ensuring access to the full range of reproductive health care, the business community, our social fabric and the US economy as a whole benefits.?

As reproductive rights and abortion access are increasingly under attack, we applaud your leadership and courage in this moment. Attempts to reduce access to critical and necessary care disregard bodily autonomy and go against the needs and wishes of the majority of Americans who support access to abortion care. The decision to stand with your employees in the face of anti-abortion efforts will strengthen your brand and Citi’s pursuit of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, and sets a new standard for how corporations can and must respond to accelerating efforts to eliminate access to reproductive health care. As an asset manager, we applaud this move and are thrilled with how positively your actions reflect upon Citi's values and priorities.
Sincerely,?
