Re:?NBC hires the 1st female sports anchor in Chicago
The announcement this Tuesday that Ms. Lelia Rahimi has been hired by Channel 5 – in a groundbreaking fashion – recalls 2 business expressions. One regarding personal success and the other, a basic rule of business.

When Cheryl Burton tattled on Mr. Giangreco, it resulted in an opportunity to get out from the biggest sports anchor salary in Chicago as the #1 leader in the ratings. ?ABC could have broken new ground by promoting Ms. Dionne Miller to lead anchor. Instead, they chose security over opportunity.
A little over a year later, NBC Chicago seized the same opportunity - passed over by ABC Chicago - and captured headlines by hiring Ms. Rahimi. Demonstrating that someone failed to keep an eye on their competition.
