An Open Letter to the 117th Congress
Dear Representatives/Senators,
As one of many representatives of the lawn and landscape industry I wanted to take a moment to welcome you as members of the 117th Congress and express our desire to work with you on policy objectives important to our industry, our customers (your constituents) and the environment. Lawn care professionals throughout the nation work daily performing essential services to homes and businesses to maintain their landscapes, sustain the environment and enhance and maintain healthy and safe green spaces.
The lawn and landscape industry is committed to responsibly using our expertise and experience to maintain healthy green spaces. Healthy green spaces through our communities can actually play a pivotal role in combating climate change including sequestering carbon, cooling the planet and cleaning the air.
Lawn and landscape professionals that maintain these green spaces are also committed to integrated pest management (IPM), a system of managing pests that involves using the best combination of cultural, biological, and chemical measures for particular circumstances to ensure the most cost effective, environmentally sound, and socially acceptable method of managing diseases, insects, weeds, and other pests.
Pesticide products are a crucial component of IPM. These products are essential in the preservation of outdoor green spaces that are enjoyed by all citizens and assist in our fight against climate change.
As you and your colleagues debate major policy initiatives like climate change we would like to be involved in the discussion. We take our role as stewards of the environment seriously and we look forward to tackling major policy decision in a collaborative and cooperative manner with you.
Regards,
Matt Peters
