Open invitation to everyone!
All set for tomorrow's opening of the Mdina Museum Open Weekend. We have worked hard to prepare a museum which reflects the priceless heritage of our people and nation. A big thank you goes to the Curator Mons Edgar Vella, management and staff who have put so much time and effort into the refurbishment of this very important museum.
The photo above shows the Gattopardo, the mythical big cat was once believed to make up half of every leopard. It is also part of Paul Alphéran de Bussan's coat of arms. He was the French Roman Catholic archbishop who served as Bishop of Malta from 1728 till 1757, who built the museum building. Upon his death, his heart is buried in a very special place in the museum. Come visit us tomorrow and Sunday, and we will show you where!
During the open weekend, you will be able to visit the newly refurbished halls and galleries, visit the valuts, the learning center, two temporary art exhibitions, join free guided tours, dress up in traditional costumes and enjoy the Artisans' market and Maltese food.
Doors open from 10am - 6pm both days.
