Open-course, computers 'learn to love', AI news #TFG012

Will the future be open-source? Well, this week we saw 英伟达 CEO Jensen Huang and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg exchange signature leather jackets as Meta launched multiple (good) open-sourced AI models in tandem with NVIDIA releasing their "ACE" generative AI and have their own open-source models as well as their new 'Digital Human Microservices' gAI avatars now available, which has also been on both LinkedIn and parent company 微软 's roadmap in recent months as well.

As all this happens, the US government says it will not limit open-source AI, OpenAI begins rolling out both 'search' and their new 'voice', Google releases new versions of models and models, opens beta-access to "ImageFX" (I have access and am currently significantly underwhelmed, but I never count 谷歌 out, unless oAI's search is "that good"). New USA AI ethics committees are being launched and endorsed by OpenAI (whos CEO SamA is on the existing Department of Homeland Security "Task Force") - notably, OpenAI has indicated they're handing ChatGPT5 to the US government first, before the public. All this, while Sora is still not available to anyone other than 麦当劳 and "the highest bidders".

So that's some of the weekly AI news (it's been almost 2 weeks - apologies, but I've been waiting for some "real news" and developments). Other includes Canva purchasing Leonardo.Ai , Runway now supporting image-to-video, a soft launch of Polygraf AI and more.

Now to the "headlines" this week of both Loving Is, the front-page story of this issue and Decision Maker App , plus some highlighted products such as Mural , WorkDone.AI , Fyxer AI and the namesake 'building in public' WeJ - Where Everyone's Jamming ', where we're building in public, hopefully for the betterment of the music industry as well as for anyone wanting to learn how to build and scale companies using AI.

What's Love Got to Do With IT?

The word 'it' isn't capitalized like a Steven King novel, but rather, it's the acronym for "information technology". What does Information Technology have to do with love? Well, it turns out the short answer is NOTHING (yet), but startup Loving Is is solving for that with prisms, filters, protocols and a personalized browser window to the "AI internet" trained on what Loving Is, leveraging many technologies from blockchain to RAG, from NLP and neural networks to preventing things that "aren't loving" such as copyright infringement, malicious intent, harmful biases and more. I am a cofounder, our cofounding team is 50% female, 50% have PhDs in relevant domains of expertise, and are researches, builders, entrepreneurs, influencers, consultants and ultimately care about the future for all of us. We've self-funded and now secured seed-investment, so are not currently seeking capital, but open to any value-add partners who want to help see LOVE as part of the "tech stack" of the future.

What's Real??

This is a "real" question, and the answer is "ask Polygraf" (https://polygraf.ai ). A nearly 100% success rate in determining what content is generated by AI and not with many more features about to be announced/revealed, this tool can protect humanity against deep fakes and many other impending potential catastrophies, and is a top recommendation of mine that you'll being hearing much more about.

A few top-rated "tech for good" products I love and use, akin to my old segment in "AI News" newsletter, "Tools of the Week".

Mural (https://mural.co ) is the best collaboration platform I've ever experienced - especially for remote teams - and makes remote work and collaboration so effective and "human" around the globe. It's free to play with and use (as a smaller team), and has some great AI functionality that makes this tool one worth highlighting.

WorkDone (https://workdone.ai ) has created a methodology and framework to use AI to help enterprises optimize, using their own intelligence and USP. Their founder Joseph Rogers is a 美国哈佛大学 grad, FXX consultant, a recent Techstars grad, and someone who understood what was coming and how orgs could stay ahead of the curve a long time ago (like 8 years!!).

FyxerAI (https://ai.fyxer.com ) is an amazing life hack that manages your email inbox, prioritizes it for you, cleans it up, learns who you are and how you reply, uses AI top help you respond to emails and SO MUCH MORE. When we all hear about AI being a "game changer", this is what we've been needing and wanting to see.

Finally, before some final disclaimers and housekeeping, the full title of this newsletter is "Tech For Good (Building In Public Using AI)". My goal is to teach everyone who reads this how to use existing AI tools as leverage, to monetize them and use them ethically, to launch their own things using AI, and more.
