Or What Happens When you Don't Adapt to Change and 5 Tips to Help You Do So Successfully

That photo above went viral for all the wrong reasons.

At the time of posting, that was the former Nokia Chairman, Stephen Elop, as he announced the company had been acquired by Microsoft.

As he made the announcement he said:

We didn't do anything wrong, but somehow we lost

And broke down in tears, accompanied by his executive team. A sad but true story.

Five years later, the premise still stands. If you don't adapt and change as the tide turns, you will be bought out, taken over, or forgotten.

And no creator creates anything to be forgotten. Forgotten suggests:

  • your purpose is obliterated
  • your business is no longer profitable
  • you no longer know how to help the very people you set out to help

But there's good news my friend.

It's not to late to swim away from the tide as it changes, so I'm sharing with you 5 things you can do going into the new year as a coach, course creator for 2022:

Revamp your offerings.

Take a critical look at what you're selling.

Is it still relevant for your audience today, as it was last year? The only way to know is to get feedback from your audience.

Poll them on social media and via your email list. Then use that data to inform how you go into the new year and the next quarter.

Use crisis as opportunities

The pandemic created a lot of chaos, but also opened opportunities for others. I was amzaed at the number of business ideas that cropped up both online and off due to this crisis.

For example, I know of persons who were super scared to share in front of others, yet they successfully made the leap to offer online classes and training.

One person quite her teaching job and now has scheduled talks with big name Conference speakers becuas she grabbed the opportunity by the ankles and refused to let go.

You have to adapt when necessary.

If you've been nurturing your list, then you would know when or how they have been affected. Have you used this chance to create another way to help them make the best of it?

Use it wisely.

Vary your offerings.

When I speak with potential clients and visit their website, the first thing a lot of them offer is a free 20-30 minute consultation.

And that is quite fine.

But let me say this real quick, not everyone is ready for a call at the first landing, but they may be willing to download a free checklist or a cheat sheet.

Remember it's all about relationships and nurturing. People seldom buy on the first look, but if you sound plausible enough, then you just may eventually get the sale.

Look into offering small, yet simple ways to get them into your funnel, because it's only there thereal work begins.

Do an inventory

Of your skillsets that is. Did you learn any new skill over the last 12 months that you can use in your business?

Revisit your "why" and what you can do to help, after all that's why you're in business to spread your mission of helping others (fill in the blank here with what you do).

Add that gem to your list of how you can help!

Get an outside perspective

Because you don't always have all the answers.

Look, I don't ever coin myself as an expert in anything, regardless of how good I am at it.

And in the online space, everybody, their cat, and their mama are experts on something. But ask them to produce something worthwhile, is absolutely another matter.

There are times you need to take a step back and get fresh eyes on what you're doing.

A great way to do that is to employ a coach, a mentor, an email marketer or social media specialist who can show you simple yet genius ways to explode your business.

Especially for the new year.

Being Forgotten is not an option

We're quickly approaching the end of the year but there is still time to make some changes as you pivot into the new year.

Will it take more hard work? For sure.

But can it be done?

Absolutely.

From being the most dominating company in the mobile market to now being a side note in many conversations, don't lose out like Nokia!
