OPDS Highly Commended for work with Odds Farm Park

OPDS (Omar Park Development Services) is delighted to have been awarded Highly Commended in the Energy Efficiency & Healthy Homes, Regional Awards 2017 (East of England), in the Landlord of the Year category. The award is in relation to the infrastructure and insulation work carried out with Odds Farm Estate.

OPDS partnered with Steve and Jackie Vinden of Odds Farm Estate, Buckinghamshire in 2015 in an exclusive agreement to design, implement and manage their 50 plot residential park.

Richard Sigsworth, Director at OPDS has worked alongside Steve and Jackie over the last two years to create the layout of the park, liaise with the local authorities with regard to licensing and planning issues and manage the tendering of a complete infrastructure upgrade. OPDS used its extensive knowledge, expertise and experience in the industry, alongside a directory of industry experts to ensure that Odds Farm continues to work for both residents and owners alike.

As part of the judging process OPDS (whose nomination was supported by Insulated Homes Ltd), were asked to demonstrate the work undertaken to improve the energy efficiency of the properties on the park and how this went towards improving the welfare and quality of the lives of tenants.

Steve and Jackie have invested heavily in the project to bolster funds received from Government grants and Eco funding. The funds have been used to: upgrade older properties on the park by installing wall, floor and roof insulation; install more energy efficient heating systems and implement a new electric infrastructure with smart meters. The work has also included upgrades to the parks infrastructure and insulation, and initiatives such as a residents association and communal garden areas. OPDS was also instrumental in providing an emergency defibrillation unit for the park. Combined, these measures have resulted in utility bill cost savings and improved the welfare and lives of residents.

Ann Barradine of Insulated Homes Ltd commented: “Richard actively encourages residents to approach us or their council regarding improvements to their homes. Many of these people are vulnerable and have requirements that make them need additional support with this process. Richards’s advice and support helps them with that first step of who to contact which is often a stumbling block. We feel that Richards’s commitment to help and support the residents goes way beyond any expectation and is an extremely rare quality amongst peers”.

The work carried out by OPDS has resulted in Odds Farm Estate now being fully subscribed together with a waiting list of customers should any homes become available for private sale.
