Op-Ed in today's TDN by Trainer Mark Casse

Mark Casse is a hard-working, very successful horse trainer that was recently and deservedly placed in this nations Hall of Fame.??To reach part of that success, he, for the most part, left the U.S. to build his stable in Canada, a country where horse racing has undeservedly suffered from major reductions in breeding and racing over the past half-century and is almost completely dichotomous from its counterpart in America. We share Mark’s ongoing major dissatisfaction of drug applications in North America but disagree with the old adage of “burning the house down” to fix a leak in the bathroom.”??HISA’s $73-million-dollar anointment to address the well identified problems with a barrage of unknowns, re-appointing some members of the problem, somewhat falsely assuages the dilemma.?
