Oops, where did all the patients go?
Over the years, we may have gotten too comfortable with the notion that?healthcare only happens when patients see us, visit us in our practices and facilities. A reminder of this lapsus came during COVID when they stopped showing up.
The “space between visits,” the vast span of time when patients are on their own, has largely remained empty,?as it is too costly to have a clinician omnipresent. To?move beyond this insurmountable supply/demand?constraint?we need to embrace Automation (deep breath right here) – which?can serve as an always-on companion?to?interact with?patients in their healthcare reality; the space where we are not.
This presence, natively built?with escalation paths into higher (and more costly) levels of?telehealth and physical care,?may not only catapult our healthcare experience but also allow us to stay in our homes longer, be reassured that care surrounds us, and bend the cost curve. Imagine that.
