Oops, I Did It Again: My Year Away from LinkedIn and What It Taught Me
Ahem, excuse me as I nonchalantly crawl back in here, pretending as if my year-long silence was a mere blink.
In all seriousness (and with a touch of embarrassment), I can't fathom how quickly a year has flown by without a single post from me on the epitome of professional platforms. How utterly unprofessional of me! Eh, uziko the person who gave birth on my last post, has a kid that can walk now?! So, here I am though, a self-proclaimed changed soul (cue the cliché New Year's resolution declaration). But really, diving back into writing and sharing my journey was a solemn pledge I made to myself for 2023. So, here I stand, point blank at gunpoint, holding myself to that promise with unwavering determination. Shuwally (oh, how I miss my Kenyan friends and their unique expressions), breaking promises to oneself shouldn't be taken lightly. Let this be a nudge for you too…
So, here's the real talk: it's March 2024, and I'm hitting pause. Did we all manage to check off our 2023 to-dos?
My radio silence from LinkedIn doesn't mean I've been idle. Far from it. Behind LinkedIn's curtain, life has been a whirlwind of grows and glows. I graduated, I went on business trips, I won accolades, I started a new job, I ate raw meat and fish (My African family might sacrifice me), I discovered my true leisure passions, I failed, I cried and crew and crode (Ignore the wrong grammar, I wanted to emphasize), I lost myself, and I rediscovered myself—not necessarily in that order but this and many many more things happened. It's been an odyssey of sorts. In fact, if I were in an African home, I would ululate about how far I have come. Whether I came jumping, crawling, or limping… what’s important is that I did arrive. So, I'm curious, what part of my journey intrigues you the most? This time, I vow, with sincerity, this I do, to write again with a prompt follow-up.
