There is no hiding the growth that Middle Tennessee is experiencing, and just a short ride from downtown Music City, you will find that growth spreading through North Nashville. Investment in the community is being seen in education, new residential developments, business, arts and so much more. No spotlight is needed as the North Nashville community continues to shine bright on its own accord.?

North Nashville universities are seeing increased numbers in enrollment, leading to new construction on campus.?Fisk is expecting to build two new buildings by 2024?– a way to accommodate their 1,050 students. Additionally, the university is already in the process of renovating other structures on campus.?TSU opened a new residence hall this fall, offering accommodations for 700 students – the first new residence hall in almost 25 years. Welcoming its largest freshmen class ever, TSU is home to more than 3,000 new students this year.?

Other developments are also being proposed as the area continues to grow.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Nashville developer Tony Giarrantana's newest development, to be built near TSU's downtown campus, would include an affordable housing component “I think dozens of these [kinds of projects] could come on simultaneously and still not come close to satisfying the demand,”?Giarrantana said of his new proposal.

A new apartment development has been proposed for North Nashville’s West Heiman Street, which according to site plans, would priced to meet the needs of the existing residential community.?

We are also seeing increased investment in the future of North Nashville by other major regional businesses. Turner Construction Company announced it would be awarding three TSU engineering students $15,000 in scholarships. Additionally, the construction company will fund $65,000 to the engineering department?in Tuition Assistance Program grants.

The Nashville Predators are also partnering with TSU. Extending a relationship that started three years ago, the Predators and TSU are continuing their collaboration by providing students with career opportunities in the NHL, in their hometown.

North Nashville is known for its rich history of music and art, and that richness is still present. Just northwest of Germantown, the Buchanan Arts District is on the rise. Offering an?“eclectic mix of old and new,”?aiming to be a haven for small business owners, entrepreneurs, homeowners, and artists alike. MYND calls this area and North Nashville as a whole as one of the top areas to invest in Nashville real estate.

And the historic Elks Lodge social club, a building that has been around since 1955, is set to begin renovations soon. As the host to iconic names like Jimmie Hendrix, Etta James, Ray Charles, and many more, the Elks Lodge plays a large part in the allure of the historic community.?

The growth in the surrounding communities – in all areas – is something to be celebrated. North Nashville continues to carry a rich historical past, while expanding and reaching for new heights.
