The Only Way To Make Your Business Work (And Win Your Life Back)

The Only Way To Make Your Business Work (And Win Your Life Back)

Last week we brought on Jeff, an experienced systems expert to our growing team of experts and coaches at The Simple Company. He is a true wizard. So I thought I’d share a few reasons why systems are so important, and why they are the only smart way to build and scale your business.

Let’s start with an obvious, but not-so-obvious insight:

If your business does not run on systems, it runs on you.

If you’re the owner and operator of your business, and your business depends on you for most of the major decisions, knowledge, and skills, you’ll never grow past your own capacity to juggle things. It just won’t happen.

When you start a business, you typically do it all yourself. And if you’re smart, you start hiring people to take on the stuff that you don’t like doing, or the stuff that someone else knows how to do better than you. Or both. Or maybe you hire someone to multiply what you know how to do.

Whichever the reason is, entrepreneurs tend to build companies that rest too much on their network, skills, and energy. After you get to a certain point, after you have experienced enough of the ego rush, the feeling of significance, or whatever drives you, you will grow tired of being the center of it all.

“Everything rests on me”, you might be thinking to yourself.

“If only I could clone myself”, you say.

“No one else can do it as well as I can, so I better do it”.

These are statements I hear all the time, and that I used to tell myself.

Let me be blunt.

These thoughts are not only harmful to your success, but they are also false. Do you actually think no one can do what you do? For real?

No one might be able to do what you do right now. But people can certainly learn how to do what you do. If not, you don’t have a business opportunity anyways…

If this thinking is plaguing you, you must start with a mindset shift. You must start by recognizing that you need to be the entrepreneur, not (just) the expert. You need to be the person building the company more than the person doing the work.

I, for example, love creating content and helping clients. So I want to do some work in the business. However, I spend less than 10% of my time with clients. The rest I spend building the business and creating content. And I advise you to find a similar ratio.

When I work in the business, I do it mostly for prototyping. I take on a limited amount of clients to serve them at the highest level, but also to continually learn about client needs, so I can design better tools, training, and programs that we can scale through our partner network. We’re still not big (The Simple Company is in its first year), however, we’re on almost all continents around the world.

I am sharing this to sell you on the idea that systematizing your business is a non-negotiable if you want to scale your business and/or enjoy the freedom to choose how you spend your time.

If you are a true entrepreneur, then you likely love the vision and strategy stuff the most. That’s also where you can provide the highest leverage. Doing the repetitive stuff is probably boring, and worse, it’s downright stupid.

Solve the problem once. Don’t be the one solving the same problem over and over. Because every time you do, you have one less problem to solve. Find someone to solve the problem for clients, and teach them how to do it.

To build systems and procedures, that’s essentially what you need to do.

Map the journey, step by step. Then document it. Train people on how to do it. Implement. Measure.

Most entrepreneurs know they should be doing this. But paradoxically, they never find the time. Building your systems does take time. It’s an investment. It’s an investment in your freedom, your growth, and your future wealth.

To make it easier for you, we have built pre-designed systems, so you only need to adjust them to your needs. And that’s where Jeff, our new systems ninja comes into the picture.

Jeff worked with many of the leading advertising agencies in the world. He designed systems for Google. And he will help you design your systems if you want.

With The Simple Company? Membership, you get access to a whole business development team for the price you would pay for half a person on your team. And you’ll get access to the systems and tools that will help you cut down the time to perhaps a fifth of what it would take if you had the skill yourself (which you might or might not have), and you built it out yourself.

Imagine what even a 10% improvement in your operational efficiency would do for your results? And what if you implemented systems for lead generation and sales conversion in addition to systems for delivering your magic?

A few percentages here and there add up. And that’s why we know that we can help you more than double your results in a relatively short time. Because unless you are the 1% who has this nailed, you have so much opportunity lying around you in your business right now.

If this sounds interesting, book a call with us to discuss your needs and conduct an assessment.

Only then will you know the tax you are paying for being sub-optimized in your current way of running your business. And that tax, that cost…might be huge.

Time spent with loved ones.

Time not spent doing what you love.

Time spent chasing the dream that won’t happen (without scalable systems).

Time wasted.

Money wasted.

The money you could have earned.

The business you could have had.

The life you could have had.

I know I make it sound dramatic. But trust me, these are all regrets I had.

For too many years, I ignored it. And I paid a big price. And I don’t want that for you.

Wanna talk about it?
