There are only two types of organizations

My profession gave me the opportunity to get to know various organizations. Those included start-ups, corporations, small, medium and large companies. Sometimes there was one owner and sometimes a group of shareholders. I've worked with companies not only from Poland but also whole Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the USA. Some created their own products and services and others just sold the boxes. You can imagine that there is almost an infinite number of combinations. 

The diversity of course impacts the manner of working with the client and whether that work will even be possible. A company's representative from Great Britain will remain calm and level-headed, no matter what happens. Then again, a client from Germany will expect a service as professional as humanly possible. 

Despite this apparent diversity, all of these organizations may be divided into two types:

• First - focused on profit. 
• The second ones - focused on what they do. 

It's easy to recognize. Just ask "Why do you do the things you do?" For profit? Profit is important, but should constitute the effect, not the goal. 

I have the impression that the number of companies focused on profits gets lower each day. People leave such companies, and other companies don't want to work with them. Why? Because each person wants to be a part of something interesting and real. Each and every one of us prefers to work with passionate people, who love what they do. Whether as an employee or a client – I will always want to support, those who do their work with real passion. 

Surely many will ask, “Does this make any difference from a business point of view”? I don't know but one of my favorite lecturers, Jacek Walkiewicz – a psychologist – once said: 

“Professionalism is never a coincidence. Passion creates professionalism. Professionalism gives quality. And quality is  a luxury in life.”
