It is interesting that the historic deal between the Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin and the National Gallery in London in relation to the Sir Hugh Lane collection, finally comes only a mere 94 years after the week that saw the Irish President of the Executive Council, WT Cosgrave suggest to the Dáil (Irish Parliament) on 2 March 1927, (94 years ago today), that Dublin Municipal Authorities should build a gallery for the pictures as required by a provision in the un-witnessed codicil of Sir Hugh Lane's will signed on 3 Feb 1915 leaving the disputed 39 paintings to Dublin, on condition a suitable gallery would be built to contain them along with other modern paintings.
