The Only Thing That Has Come True From My High School Motivational Speakers

Do you recall those times in High School just before the KCSE exams? When Motivational Speakers flooded the dais armed with tips, hacks, and tricks to make you smash the looming KCSE exams.

I remember them clearly. When I left the hall I burst with enthusiasm to do what they proposed but 72 hours later, I had no initiative to follow through. I felt cheated.

There were a lot of hacks about which questions would come in the KCSE, the different colours in of the papers and what they meant, the mindset required, and how to be fully prepared like how ancient generals prepared for war to decide the fate of the empire.

But, in a few days, this clarity evaporated like dew in the Sahara desert when the sun shows up unchallenged in the morning.

By the time the KCSE was rolling up, I was tired of showing up to any talk.

However.

There is one talk hack that has stood the test of time. It rings true even now. At that time it felt like a bad joke. Like the speaker was playing games like all the others.

"There is only one thing that will never change in your life. When everything else changes it will always be there with you. Your NAME!"

When I had this statement, I was skeptical (from my experience with previous motivational speakers).

However, this statement still rings true in my life.

1. Circumstances have changed
2. Fortunes have changed
3. Friends have changed
4. Beliefs have changed
5. Mindset has changed
6. Economy has changed
7. Perceptions have changed
8. Relationships have changed
9. Trends have come and gone
10. Bad times have come and gone
11. Opportunities have come and gone

But, only one thing has not changed. Samuel Kimu. After all these changes, tribulations, good times, and exciting times - my name has triumphed over them all.

"There is only one thing that will never change in your life. When everything else changes it will always be there with you. Your NAME!"

This is the only thing that remains true from High School motivation.
