LinkedIn invited me to contribute to one of its career development threads recently.
The theme was how to keep your motivation going over time.
Although the context was related to taking lengthy courses, the advice I offered proved popular with those who read it.
As it can also be used as a four-part strategy for career progression, I thought I would share it here in case it could help you too, in case you missed it.
This is what I said.
1. Be clear about your 'why'; it will keep you going through moments of challenge as you learn and grow.?
2. Be clear about what you need to learn; it will help you plug gaps in what you can do and help you grow in the right direction.
3. Focus on learning how to be effective and elegant in your work with others; it will encourage people to involve you in new opportunities not made available to others,
4. Finally, take one step every day to keep yourself moving forward; after all, the world of work is changing so fast, and as the saying goes, "the tide waits for no man (or woman!)!".
Enjoy the journey; you only get to do it once.
Best wishes
Carolyn

3 个月I love this, especially the point about being effective and elegant in the way we work with others. What lovely wording and an excellent point. I can think of examples of this being done well and its impactful.
