The Client's Journey: From Problem to Solution
Every client begins their journey with a problem. Whether it’s a health issue, a career obstacle, or a personal struggle, this problem often feels overwhelming and insurmountable. Many people try to leap directly from the problem to the solution, only to find themselves falling into the gap between where they are and where they want to be. This gap is too wide to cross without a crucial process: the journey through awareness, choice, and the implementation of new learning and skills.
Step 1: Awareness
The first step in any journey is awareness. Awareness involves recognizing and understanding the problem at hand. This is more than just acknowledging that a problem exists; it’s about deeply understanding the nature of the problem and how it impacts one's life. This stage requires introspection and honesty, and it can be uncomfortable. However, without awareness, there can be no change. Clients must take a hard look at their situation and identify the root causes of their issues.
Step 2: Choice
Once a client is fully aware of their problem, they reach a pivotal point: the choice. This is where they decide whether to stay stuck in the problem or to seek the resources and support necessary to move forward. This is where they decide if they want to continue camping on Victim Island or move to Solution City (see my previous blog on this topic: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/life-solution-city-way-better-melissa-deally-k9q7c/?trackingId=uRKPTstaR9mk8WQSx9FdqQ%3D%3D) This choice is crucial. Staying stuck is often the easier, more familiar path, but it leads to ongoing dissatisfaction and frustration. Choosing to seek help, on the other hand, opens the door to potential solutions and personal growth. This choice requires courage and a willingness to step into the unknown.

Step 3: Implementing New Learning and Skills
After making the choice to seek help, the client must then move into the learning phase. This involves acquiring new knowledge and skills that are necessary to overcome their problem. Whether it’s learning new coping strategies, developing new habits, or gaining new perspectives, this stage is about equipping oneself with the tools needed for change. It’s important to note that learning alone is not enough; these new skills must be actively implemented. This means practicing and integrating these skills into daily life until they become second nature.
If you are a coach, do you have the tools to support your client in this phase? Are you looking to up level your toolbox to help your client move through this phase with greater ease? This is the transformational phase, and using the tools of the Unconscious Mind is what allows you to rewire their neurology, so they simply can't do their problem any more. Then you give them "tasking" for new behaviours to deepen that neurology from a little bunny trail into an 8 lane highway, that is how the new skills become second nature.
