Only focus on one thing!
I rushed in and just before I’m about to ask her...
...another guy swoops in and asks her
only seconds before I could.
I was devastated! I was at a dance
and it was the first time I had asked anyone to dance.
I learned and when I went up to college,
things were much different.
Every week, I would go country dancing.
It was one of those things that I just loved.
I went for several years and I couldn’t get enough of it.
I loved meeting new people and at one point about 7 out of 10 of my dates came from country dancing.
Friends would always tell me
I should go to the social swing dancing classes
but I wasn’t interested.
Why?
Because it didn’t solve the problem that I had.
People who go to those classes only go to improve their dancing.
Yet, I had a different story.
I knew that I if I could get 5 country dance moves
down really, really well, that would last the whole song
and I would look like a rockstar.
Most people who I dance with were new and
didn’t know these 5 moves.
They were different and I did them flawlessly
(since I’ve done them 1,000’s of times).
I didn’t need a social dance class to teach me MORE things,
I just needed to get good at the one thing (or 5 moves in this case).
I just needed something that could fill the time
for the 4 minute song that would WOW the ladies
I was trying to meet.
Last night, I got invited by a buddy to go country dancing.
This time, I wasn’t going for me.
Usually, my goal is to meet a few cute girls
who I can meet up with later but this time,
my intentions were different.
I wanted to find 3 girls and make their night.
Girls who usually don’t get as much attention at country dancing,
which was kind of a nice change.
Why? I’m already dating someone so I thought,
I’m going to be a wing man for my buddy, which I did.
We linked up with another buddy who was there
and they both left with phone numbers of girls
they hadn’t met before.
Proud of them!
What does this have to do with you?
For one, I hope you read these carefully because
I’m trying to give you the gold without being blatantly obvious about it.
You don’t have to be a rockstar at everything,
you don’t have to go learn country swing,
and Lindy hop and ballroom and the walz and all this stuff.
You just have to get good at ONE thing. 5 moves.
Really, really good.
Something you love to do.
Find your purpose and learn the one thing that is going to set you apart.
Maybe you’ve been burned out recently with your business.
