“The only definition of a leader is someone who has followers.†- Peter Drucker
Last week, our marketing teams from Shanghai, Singapore, and the UK came together at our headquarters for our first in-person meeting.
We exchanged ideas, collaborated closely, and strengthened our connection around our shared goals and purpose as a revitalised team.
Some key insights from the sessions:
?? Do a few key things well (The 80/20 rule).
?? Think BIG. Shoot for the moon and you'll land among the stars.
?? Fail fast, learn fast.
? We can go faster, further as a team.
?? Collaboration is a powerful catalyst for innovation and collective success (11 new ideas were presented and discussed).
Then on Friday, I had the privilege of attending the Montagu Future Leaders Forum with Brendan Martin . The event brought together two representatives from each of Montagu's 25 portfolio companies in the heart of London.
It was an incredible opportunity to represent Lloyd's List Intelligence (and Singapore), connecting with diverse professionals from various roles and industries—showcasing Montagu's strength and diversity.
Here are some key insights from the sessions:
?? Building trust and investing in training are essential.
?? Your intention shapes your energy, expression, and engagement. Embrace your different personas and create an empowering environment as leaders.
?? Embrace relaxation; collective effort and transparency are crucial.
?? Advice often reflects the giver's experience. Seek coaching. Be bold, resilient, and agile.
??Nurturing and empowering employees transforms them into champions for your organisation.
??? Trust is the foundation for everything.
Alongside a shift in mindset, we can utilise classic tools like MBTI (??) and situational leadership theory to foster a common language and application in the workplace.
With the right mindset, one can tackle any challenge by taking proactive steps, one at a time.
