Online Vs. Offline Network Marketing?

It can seem like a battle royale... lol when it comes to how you should build your business especially in this era of online and sometimes it can get ugly!

But what if its not either/or? What if you could do both and get even better results to boot?

Lets face it : As a network marketer, what are some of the things you have been told?

  • Talk to friends and family
  • Go for 'NO'
  • The Fortune is in the follow up
  • Share with Everyone within three foot
  • Create a list

These are all old-school traditional belly to belly ways to market . Whats funny is that there are a lot of similiarities here to how you should take your network marketing online especially if you are first starting out

The ''Online Three Foot Rule''

Talk to everyone within three foot of your online. No matter the social media platform, if someone connects with you, you should reach out and start networking. e.g on facebook , you should send a personal message to anyone who:-

  • Sends you a friend request
  • likes or shares one of your posts
  • comments on a post

Ask them about their business and goals and see if you can determine what they are struggling with.

The Online ''List of 100''

You can make lists of targeted interest groups highly likely to respond to your offer . So instead of making a list of 100 people who very likely aren't interested in starting a business,you can make a list of targeted interest groups likely to respond to your offer. Therefore no more dealing with unresponsive friends and family members.

Talking to people who are already interested is more than half the battle, so your closing ratio is high.

At the end of the day though, traditional and online methods are similar, because much of the time you are still going to hear a 'NO' and that's just a fact.

But it's also true that ''NO'' can simply mean its not the right time... hence the timeline advise..

How Follow Ups works online

There are many forms follow up can take online and many of them are completely automated!

  • You can follow up via email
  • You can follow up by providing content on your blog or writing an article on LinkedIn
  • Follow up can mean broadcasting a Live video
  • Its a brave new world with today's technology.
  • You can host a webinar or text message

You are not limited to the phone. You have so many options.

Social media is a highly -leveraged and largely automated follow up channel.

Traditional and online network marketing overlap each other in that you are going to have to talk to people with either method.

Because if you are not...

  • Reaching out and talking to your leads
  • connecting with your audience
  • getting out there and making connections
  • eventually automating everything possible

You are not building a real business.

You know I was talking to my mentor and coach yesterday and one of the things she said was

Its a lot of hard work

Well, let me be dead serious with you for a moment - Its hard work.

Whether you are doing the traditional method of building your business or you are building online. Its still hard work. You can't wish it away, You can't hope there is an easy button...

You just need to do the work.

You can't spell network without ''Work''

It tends to take a year of being online, a year of consistently being seen by your audience, a year of providing value, education and training for people to grow and trust you .

Its easy to get distracted and its easy to lose focus.

So don't waste time starting over again and again

When you are in a relationship, you show up every single day... its the same dynamic with your audience.

So commit to the process because if you show up, you will become the trusted recommender.

Its time to ask yourself...

  • Are you commited to staying the path?
  • Are you committed to following through?

If you are, then don't try to avoid the work.

  • Learn how to build those relationships!
  • Learn how to follow up with people using tools available today.

So, the answer to Online Vs. Offline network marketing?

Blend online and offline to your utmost advantage.

You can :

  • Follow up easier through the internet than ever before
  • Easily connect with over 100 people every single day using the internet
  • Show people your presentation without having to invite them to a hotel or home meeting

You can do so many things that traditionally done offline and blending them with the online world.
