Online Trade show 2020, can do or can't do
The coronavirus epidemic has caused a large number of domestic and foreign exhibitions to be canceled, making online exhibitions becomes a hot spot for innovation in the exhibition industry. and media reports have increased popularity. It seems that Global trading will shift from offline to online, and a new way of Global trade is coming.
But will buyers really cooperate with the suppliers they just know through online exhibitions? My view is negative.
Thinking about purchasing glasses case
In the early summer of 2018, I took a train from Shanghai to Wuhan, and met a young man in the car who was about to get off in Hangzhou. During the chat, I learned that he was working in a Japanese supermarket, and he made a special trip to Yiwu to inspect the quality of a glass. I asked, why do you need to travel to China if you can know supplier from online? He told me that the information was obtained from the Internet and communicated with manufacturers on the Internet. But the quality still needs to be inspected on the spot, but also to look at the factory. If it meets the requirements, talk to the manufacturer about adding the supermarket logo to the glass, and bring the sample back to Japan.
This shows that it is impossible for trade only from online. Low-value glasses cannot be purchased online. If it is a machine worth millions or tens of millions of dollars, would it be possible to place an order just by looking at pictures or videos online?
In offline exhibitions, people need face-to-face communication, getting to know products and suppliers, plus on-site inspections, to decide the ultimate business partner.
But online exhibitions are another way for customers to learn about their company and products, especially today under the Covid-19 epidemic. Exhibitions are canceled, and it is more difficult for suppliers to go abroad and buyers to come to China. We all need a way to understand each other.
Finally, I want to say that online exhibitions are born in accordance with the times. We should not refuse, try more and learn new things.
