By utilizing cutting-edge technologies like Spring for the backend, React for the front end, and MySQL for data management, this system aims to provide patients, doctors, pharmacists, and admins with a seamless and convenient healthcare experience, all from the comfort of their homes.

About Project:

The "Online Medical System for Virtual Consultations" is an innovative web application that enhances remote healthcare accessibility. This platform allows users to seamlessly book virtual medical appointments, access their medical records, and receive e-prescriptions from healthcare professionals. The online medical system simplifies healthcare delivery by offering these comprehensive services, making it more accessible and convenient for patients and medical professionals.

Stakeholders / Roles in the Online Medical System:

  • Admin: Responsible for managing platform settings, overseeing user accounts, and ensuring data security. The Admin ensures that all platform operations run smoothly and that sensitive information is protected.
  • Doctor: Conducts virtual consultations with patients, issues e-prescriptions based on the diagnosis, and manages patient records. The Doctor plays a crucial role in delivering healthcare services remotely.
  • Patient: Can book virtual medical appointments, access their medical records and lab reports, and consult with doctors. Patients are the primary beneficiaries of the system, enjoying seamless access to healthcare services from the comfort of their homes.
  • Pharmacist: Manages e-prescriptions provided by doctors, tracks medication orders, and offers relevant medication information to patients. The Pharmacist ensures timely and accurate dispensing of medicines based on the doctor's prescriptions.

Modules & Operations in the Online Medical System:

  • Appointment Booking Module: Allows patients to book virtual medical appointments with available doctors. This module includes scheduling, reminders, and rescheduling functionalities.
  • Virtual Consultation Module: Facilitates real-time video consultations between doctors and patients. It includes features like patient history review, symptom discussion, and medical advice through secure video communication.
  • E-Prescription Module: Enables doctors to issue digital prescriptions after consultations. Patients can access these prescriptions online and share them with pharmacists for medication orders.
  • Medical Records Management Module: Provides patients with access to their medical records, including lab reports, past prescriptions, and consultation histories. Doctors can also update patient records after each consultation.
  • Pharmacy Management Module: Allows pharmacists to manage e-prescriptions, track orders, and provide relevant medication information. This module ensures patients receive accurate and timely information about their medications.
  • Admin Dashboard: A central interface for the Admin to manage user accounts, system configurations, and ensure the platform's data security. It includes user management, access control, and platform monitoring tools.

Block Diagram / System Architecture:

The system architecture for the Online Medical System for Virtual Consultations connects users—patients, doctors, admins, and pharmacists—through a web application built using JSP. An API Gateway manages incoming requests, routing them to the Backend API, which handles the business logic and CRUD operations for appointments, records, and e-prescriptions. A MySQL Database securely stores user data, while the Authentication Service ensures secure user access. The Notification Service keeps users updated with appointment and prescription alerts. Postman is used for testing API endpoints during development to ensure system reliability.
